Detailing now W/Pics

Post by Chewy »

So, I was working at a detail shop for quite some time and gleaned a great deal of info and expertise in that area especially working on JDMs that came through. I've now quit that job and am onto another, but in my spare time helping people out with their Delis would be cool. Polishing and removing the staining caused by japanese pollution is so gratifying. I'm working on accumulating some last bits to allow myself to be a fully mobile detail unit, but feel free to hit me up with some questions about products and other ideas for clean up, or even help for that matter!

once my container gets here, I'll do some write ups w/pics on cleaning the deli top to bottom inside and out!

take it easy
Kelly :-D

Sooo, Nick aka The Pinkfingers dropped by lovely Nanaimo to have his Deli given the full treatment...I didn't have much time to take pictures because I was hauling some pretty major ass to get her finished so he had enough time to catch the ferry back to vancouver in a timely manner, but here are a few:

it had some nice west coast pinstripes for me to look after:

some dirty wheels (nice wheels btw):

and some minor stains (poor examples, I know):

clean inside! (wasn't particularly that dirty, though I did kneel on a square chunk of lego!

and lastly, the finished product, Thanks again Nick, was happy to help!!

unfortunately I'm a no go on the tint as of yet. Just don't have enough experience to feel like I'm doing the best quality job someone can get.

Since it'd be a month and a bit until mine arrives...I'm now looking for a Delica in Nanaimo to do a detail on to document the process. I'd be offering a free detail to the first person with a dirty deli who drops me a line if they like.

The prices I was thinking about:

$244.00 Full detail:
Includes: full interior cleaning and dressing of all vinyls and plastics, vacuum, upholstery cleaning (shampoo/ includes notoriously dirty headliners!), Exterior wash, multi stage cut polish, finishing with a glaze and wax (all polishing done with makita variable speed.)cleaning of frame/ wheel wells, wheels, tire shine, finally engine cleaning and dressing.

$144.00 Interior Detail
cleaning and dressing of all vinyls and plastics, vacuum, and upholstery cleaning/shampoo (pet hair for instance!)

$144.00 Exterior Detail
wash, cleaning of door jambs, windows, multi stage polish, cleaning of wheel wells/ underbody, tire shine and wax.

Take it Easy,

Kelly

I'm sure I missed some stuff, but I thought I'd throw it out there, please feel free to comment or question:

Do you do touch-ups on the paint? I got a couple of chips in the front-lower panel that could use some paint before they start to rust (okay, really start to rust).

absolutely I can do touch up paint. If you can track down your colour ( some auto body shops can mix some up for you if I remember correctly) I could definitely apply it for you! and I certainly wouldn't charge you for it.

Nice detail. :M

I would prefer to pay a few extra bucks for the small guy compared to the big detail shops.

Too bad you're not on the mainland ! :-D

Just got back from the ferry.

Kelly did an AMAZING, AMAZING job on the Jammy Dodger. I'm telling you, when I arrived after it was done I was stunned and agog at the difference. Gone was the branch rash, gone was the awful brake grime, gone was all the gunk my kids brought into the deli with them, and in their place was what you see in the pics - an awesome looking machine. Honestly, people were turning their heads as I drove by - much more than usual.

I was impressed when I picked up our Deli from Japanoid - they did a good job with the detailing, but Kelly "outshined" them 10 to 1 (sorry about the bad pun). Brought it home and my wife and kids could tell, even in the dark. Every nook and cranny glistened.

So all that to say that he did an incredible job.

It was such a gift to us, so thank-you very much Kelly. It was our privilege to be your test vehicle.

Thanks for the kind words and the glistening review Nick! It was my pleasure to bring the Jammy Dodger back to her proper shine.... as for writeups, my delis get here on the 19th, with any luck I'll have something else up before December! Also, I may be able to coordinate a mainland trip once my deli is insured (enough room to get my gear in!)

What magic compounds do you use to remove carpet coffee stains and carpet oil stains?? I'm sure elbow grease is part of it too?

thanks

Green, if you're even in my neck of the woods, let me know! I'd be sure to if I ever end up in calgary with my supplies :-D

Wayne, There's a Canadian company called ducan (based out of PoCo) that sells an auto industry product called duca-sol, among various other products. It comes in a few different sized bottles/pails and needs to be diluted for use. You can't get it at the store mind you, if you shoot an email to sales@ducan.com they should be able to find you a sales guy close by.

I use it in 1:10 solution with water (hot water for carpet usually, but not necessary) in a spray bottle and just take a clean rag and rub it, may not take the stain out deep below the surface, but in my experience, short of heavy non organic dyes (ie. orange pop & cream soda) it will come out. I can't guarantee it, but it may help get WVO stains out of the back ( at my old job we had a guy who transported "something" that leaked an entire litre of oil into the back of his girlfriend's new jeep cherokee, and aside from the smell the stain was gone). If you get any on the vynil in the car, just make sure you wipe it off as it can stain vynil ( especially blue and grey).

any more questions, feel free to ask.

Kelly.
