A few of us are planning to go camping and offroading next weekend. For now there's me, Falco, Tardisdeli and Missy. Anyone else would be interested? We'll be meeting Saturday morning at 8:45am in the parking lot of Princess Auto in Coquitlam (Hwy 1 in front of Ikea). Some will come back Sunday night while others Monday night. It would be nice to have new people join us and obviously this isn't only for the Lower mainland people, it's open to all Delica lovers!
We haven't decided for sure where we'll be going but West Harrison Rd towards Pemberton and hot springs would be very nice, could also be Jones Lake Hydro camp ground (Wachleah Lake), past Hope towards Silver Skagic... Anyway, we'll get into the details later this week.
We were talking about going out Sunday for some off roading anyhow, so we'll probably come along with you guys. It'd be a great chance to show off my new GLASS side windows.
Way cool, Tomanique, glad to hear and as stylish the plastic and duct tape is, I think glass is more stealth.
I am thinking that Sloquet is going to be a fine destination on the Harrison/Lillooet loop. As is getting cooler out there I think a naturally beautiful hot spring is in order. However, there is a part of the Weaver Lake Road, about ten kilometres, that is particularly rough. Not a problem for the mighty Delica, I have done it a few times. My concern is that if one's torsion bars are not raised (Marty Special at West Coast Alignment) there could possibly be grounding, probably not.... I guess what I am saying is if you are planning on coming and the torsion bars are on your list then it might be prudent to do the torsion bars before the weekend.
Also, if we go this route, bring your camera. There are some stunning views from the Lillooet Bridge on the second leg of the loop.
Falco.

Sloquet HS sounds good for us. Jones Lake is not my favorite place as it is packed with crazy offroaders fooling around in sand and mud. Too busy and too noisy. So far we are in for Sloquet (HOT, HOT, HOT!) . More cameras = better coverage!

Just got the appointment with WCA for tomorrow morning to lift our torsion bar, align the wheels and replace our shocks. So we (missy & fexlboi with our Dino) are almost ready for the weekend :)
Ya know, if we didn't have to get down to Victoria for a few days - back on the wknd, I might just make the big journey over there. I'm getting the itch to get off the 'ole rock sometime and a camping trip with a crew of fellow deli-heads is a great reason. Not this time though. And hey, who knows, maybe I'll even talk Hazelnut into such a trip - that'll have to wait for warmer weather though Have a great trip guys - I'll be watching for the story and pictures
Hi all, this weekend is in a couple days from now -- start packing now !
This is a great time of year to do the West Harrison Road, not many others hogging the camp spots, and the roads are still open (later they are closed due to winter snowfall / rockfall). The Tardis Deli votes for the West Harrison Road, this is a 2 day trip. In from the south end (turn just west of Harrison River), then follow up the West Side of Harrison Lake, up to Pemberton, then turn left for home via Whistler / Squamish. Good map in the BackRoads book.
Regardless of where we all end up camping that night, we're bringing our portable woodstove / campstove for everyone sitting round keeping warm, and heating food and water, if each brings a milkcrate full of wood (2x4 scraps from local building sites), and a camping chair. We'll circle the deli's and put our big tarp over, so we have a central cooking / social area. Yup, all that and our microwave and electric blanket -- it's amazing what we squeeze into a Deli.
We found we needed a spare container of fuel as it is a very long road. Last trip we averaged 25 miles an hour, very good gravel road, 2 lanes wide, some potholes. View over the lakes and mountains. Hot pools at Sloquet, which we probably won't reach till sunday morning. Anyone know the status of St.Agnes Well / Skookumchuck hot spring ?
I might even be persuaded to bring rice crispy squares for all to share.
Cheers, Christine and Jay.

If we are meeting at Princess Auto at 08:45 and I presume leaving within the hour then we could make Sloquet by mid afternoon easy, assuming there is nothing in the way ~ especially if it's white. We might want to stop at the Sasquatch Inn to hook up with Tomanique and anyone else coming from that neck of the woods.
I have twenty litres of spare diesel if necessary and I am sure DeliCat & the TardisDeli will have some, too. Extra blankets is on my list as well.
Peace, Falco.

Thought about Bruce but he's too busy trying to move to the West Coast (of UK that is...). Nice to see Sergiy and Tom joining us as well! I'm working on my truck every available minutes to make sure she's ready as right now she's out of commisison. She's getting new fuel and coolant hoses as part of her WVO conversion, she'll be ready but I might show up with bloody knuckles and greasy fingernails...
Salut David,
I see from your post: "I'm working on my truck every available minutes to make sure she's ready as right now she's out of commisison. She's getting new fuel and coolant hoses as part of her WVO conversion, she'll be ready but I might show up with bloody knuckles and greasy fingernails.".
PLEASE phone Jay to help you, he would be happy, and he is curious about the WVO. .. so I would rather he experiment on your deli than mine. He is available today & Thurs evenings after 5:30, phone him today after 9:30 am to book him. You guys can either work in our back yard under the huge lights, or he maybe can use the shop -- sometimes not politically ok. He has heaps of fuel line fittings, that's what boats are, fuel sucking pigs.
Dude, see you tonight, or else we will KNOW you are a snob -- after all he is from the anglo area of Quebec.
Hey all, so the trip is definitely on, rain or shine. Everyone welcome, including dogs.
For those who haven't been out with the group, we usually have a few beers around the fire, but we don't get stupid. David will lead the herd through some impenetrable trail, someone will get pulled out of some mud puddle. Everyone will feel refreshed. Your deli will find a new rattle, but it will have fun. And yes, all the deli's come home, we don't hurt our babies (not like some 4x4 drivers on you-tube). So buy a can of stew for saturday dinner, box of cereal & milk for breakfast, munchies for the lunchies, you're set. And maybe an extra thick sleeping bag or two. Cheers, Christine and Jay.

If any of you Delifites think you'll be needing extra tarps, let me know. I was heading to KMS in the morning and figured I'd come over to Princess for the preflight check before you guys headed off. Im stuck doing my Jetta head gasket/timing belt this weekend and would have loved to gone up witchyas.
