For sale: Filtered WVO in Vancouver

G'day all,

I have close to 300 gallons of very nice filtered/de-watered WVO for sale. I've been too slow to complete my Veggie install on my trucks so my reserve keeps growing up on me...

If you don't have a WVO install done on your truck you can still blend it with your diesel but only to a max. of 25%. I've been running it that way for 6 months and works great. With colder weather I might reduce the % a bit but doesn't get really cold here anyway.

It's $12/cube (approx. 5 gallons/20 litres) or $50 for 5.

I had heard up to 50% in the summer months - Pretty sure that's what after oil did - is that right after oil? I started blending later in the summer season and maxed at 20 liters WVO into 55 liters of diesel to fill the 75 liter tank. Now it's cold I'm down to a max of 10 liters WVO into 65 liters of diesel. I love it! - even a little bit of WVO makes the bus smell like a deep frier Highly recommended!!

WEO and WTO too - waste engine oil and waste transmission oil. At least, that's what I've read elsewhere. Never more than half though, too thick otherwise.

I've been pouring the engine oil into the tank, and I'm interested to see what the fuel filter looks like when I change it in a month or so. And I'm just about ready to do another oil change, so that'll be three, if not four...

Your Delica oil change oil, or oil change oil from a gas pot ? Now you have me thinking. Will definately up your sulphur content of the diesel ( increased slipivity ) but curious on what it will do to injectors with a higher carbon count on such a small amount of diesel. Adding 2-3 ounces of 2-stroke motor oil will up the sulphur content. I'll call our lab that tests fuel in the morning.

thats true, myself and 2 other powell river delicas ran 50/50 in the summer, all good

"Breaks down"? Does that mean burn? Most everything breaks down if one applies enough heat to it.

Considering diesel fuel is still an 'oil' while gasoline is a 'refined spirit', I would think there would be not much difference burning a slightly thicker oil than burning straight diesel. The limitation to filling the fuel tank completely with WEO is that the fuel pump can't suck it outta the tank (same reason for WVO). By the time the engine is warm, the IP is warm enough too, and this resident heat is enough to heat the fuel/oil mix before it hits the injectors. This underlying reason is why I've never put more than 20 litres of either WEO or WVO into my nearly empty tank before topping off with diesel.

Back on the original topic: anyone coming to the Island this weekend, could bring me a couple of cubes (like 4 maybe)? Delicat, if that happens what would be my cost? PM me if this is to happen. I've got two empty cubes I could send back with whomever.

By the way is it still a good idea to add diesel conditioner if we mix the diesel with WVO?

I do, don't know if I'm wasting my time but don't think it can hurt. Usually they contain some form of biocide or the like to get rid of any water that might be in your fuel so that's good. Some claim to increase your Cetane, can't hurt although minimal. The WVO surely adds lubricity to the mix, same as the additive so you might not need as much if you use WVO.

I don't have any hard facts behind all this, it's just what I think so take it for what it's worth. All I know is that my trucks run real nice since I started using WVO in my diesel (and smells nice too!) but I never over did it, 20-25% max for me (1 jug per full tank). You can get away with more in the hot summer months but not worth the risk for me.
