Just an update on my Centrifuge system. I have now run 26 000km on my centrifuged oil. I needed to change the car oil filter about every 6000km. about 12000km ago, I changed the bottom configuration on my barrel and also included a filter for polishing. I am still running on the same filter in the truck for 10 000km now. I have changed the polishing filter once at home. It is one hell of a lot easier to change and WAY cheaper. I am very happy with the results.

Are you doing any oil samples?? or any testing of the oil?

Centrifuging the oil only cleans it and does not replace the additives that are burnt off during combustion.
just clean oil is not enough to protect your engine.

You need to keep and eye on your total base number.. TBN
TBN Testing is particularly important for engine oil, as it is continuously exposed to acidic combustion products and these must be neutralised before they can corrode engine parts.

The TBN of oil is the measure of the alkaline reserve, or the ability of the oil to neutralise acids from combustion. Severe depletion of the TBN results in acid corrosion and fouling within the engine.

Maintaining a correct alkaline reserve is critical in preventing unnecessary corrosion of the upper piston, piston rings and top end bearing. Additionally, low TBN is indicative of reduced oil detergency.

Low TBN will cause:

Corrosion of combustion space and bearings
Fouling within the engine


Many companies offer oil sample kits. We do them on the ships and have good result as we can trend monitor the equipment.

Wow, oceaneer 77, I was refering to WVO, ...but thanks. I am using alkaline strip test for my WVO just out of curiosity mostly.

I am using the spin clean.

sorry about the first one... some people do whacky things to their motor oil.

how many passes are you making with your centrifuge and are you dewatering the wvo?

I pass it through at least 3 times. I heat it to 120 C and it has 110psi, so the water prity much flash evaporates.
Seems to be working like a charm
