Where can I get a replacement 20w fluorescent light?

My interior fluorescent light has been very dull and looks like it's been wanting to die since I purchased my Delica in September. I FINALLY took it apart today to see what type of lamp I needed. As soon as I saw the Japanese writing on it I thought this won't be as easy as I thought...

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement light?

I only checked Canadian Tire, but figured most hardware stores would carry similar items and didn't want to waste time driving around only to find the same lamps that don't work.

Thanks!

Quick question: did you rotate the three-position knob that adjusts brightness of the light, try the different intensity levels?

As an aside, I'm thinking of gutting that whole system and throwing in some LED light bars. Simplify, intensify and transmogrify the whole thing. That might be another option.

Yes, I tried adjusting the knob and the brightness is pretty much the same on each level.

I also forgot to mention that the one end of the lamp is pretty dark (looks burnt out).

The LED option sounds like a pretty good idea, but I'm not the type of person who would try to make something like that...I'd rather just replace the bulb and know that it works :)

I think that's a hard find, I asked at the shop where I bought Duke and they didn't have any. I was told its only avalable in Japan. I didn't try Japaniod or any of the other dealers, but I did take the tube out and managed to replace with an off the shelf 24" tube from Rona. The factory tube is 24 5/16" long, so I had to take the assembly out of the van and move the tube connector 5/16". Now anytime the tube buggers up, I can replace with a $7 light.

Thanks for the tip, that's a good idea. I'm also waiting to hear from Mardy from Amazing Auto Imports (where I bought my van) to see if he has any or can get any.

In the second pic...are you sure that the TOP is Rona and the BOTTOM is Delica? My tube is quite a bit smaller in diameter than the hardware store...it looks opposite in yours. ALSO, my lamp is only 22 and 7/8" long apposed to the 24" from the hardware store. You said yours was 24 5/16?? Hmmm, maybe different models have different tubes. I'm driving a 1993 OFFROADEXPRESS Super Exceed.

The bottom tube is burnt on the ends, you can see that. The top tube is smaller in diameter and shorter in lenght. My van is a 92 Super Exceed, but either way all you should have to do is remove two pop rivets, move the connector to the lenght of the new tube and pop rivet back in place. The new light is nice and secure and nice and bright.

Yeah, that may be the best and easiest solution.

Thanks again,

Kinda funny, but has anyone tried the fluorescent light for fish tanks? They have unusual sizes.

if the light doesn't really change when switching the nob I would not be looking at the bulbs but that switch and the ballast. I have never really seen florescent bulbs get dim with out starting to flicker and stuff. Try swapping the bulbs with someone else and see if the problem follows the bulbs or stays with the van.
