Hot/Cold Box

Post by jwfchase »

My Cold box cools great, but now winter's here, I've discoved the "hot" side doesn't seem to be working (I was really looking forward to a warm sandwich that day...)

Is there a checklist of simple--->complicated I can try to repair this? Maybe just a blown fuse?

pretty sure it just uses hot air from the heater core, are you getting any air flow when it's on hot? I had some of the ducting come lose behind the stereo once, was still close so I didn't notice right away, wasn't using the hot box at the time but it was affecting the air flow of my other vents.

also check the fuses behind the glove box, maybe something in there that could affect it.

Hmm, I'll check that- the heater seems to otherwise work great though.

OK, it does seem to get warm in there when the heater fan is running full blast- is there a specific heater setting that makes it work better?

I seem to remember reading that the hot side of the cool box is actually an electric heating element, completely separate from the rest of the heating system.

Mystery Machine posted instructions almost 2 years ago on removing the cool box, and it doesn't show any hoses for air.

But there are several fuses behind the glove compartment that belong to the hot/cool box. Check those.
