bc issued vin .

Post by fishslapper »

I have a question fo you......

When i got the van 6 months ago they made a huge deal about the vin . I had to get a bc vin issued and had a paper in my van that said that the vin was changed etc.....etc....

They sent me new paperwork with the bc vin to carry in my glove box.
I just had to go to aircare and they were giving me a hard time about the fact that i did not have a sticker with the bc vin on my door. I showed them all the paperwork
And they said to get the icbc office to issue me a decal.......

A few days later i went to icbc and they printed me out the new registration and what's on the paperwork........The japanese vin number !!!! The very same one ICBC said the computer would not/could not use !!! I asked about it and the lady had no idea what i was asking her. She just said to carry this mountain of paperwork in the glovebox.

I am now confused !! BUT I GUESS THIS IS WHAT THE GOVERNMENT AIMS FOR !!! :-D :o :shock:

hi, they dont issue a new bc vin now. they used the original japanese vin number unless it has 2 sited vin then you dont need it. but if you only have 1 vin, then you need to get one.
as per aircare they have to learn the new rules on it.
hope this help,
Cheers;

They haven't been issuing BC VINs on imports for ages, as long as the Japanese VIN is in two places on the chassis. On Gumdrop it is, the panel by the door, and the commissioning plate behind the driver's knees.

When I took Gumdrop through AirCare last fall the AirCare people knew where to look for the VIN. Word must be getting around.

As the general consensus appears to be that I do not know what I'm talking about, and cause more harm than good, I am removing this post so that others are not tricked in to following my ill-advised instructions.
