My buddy has a '91 Deli Super Exceed he wants to sell for $2000.
180 000kms running fine but not generally maintained. Has been rolled over and is all smashed up on one side. some rust.
I don't really need it beyond using it for parts. I do own land that I could store it on.
It seems like a lot to spend on a parts car, and a shame to make it only for parts since it works. But on the other hand its a Deli for $2000 bucks and I could easily go through that in parts.
Any opinions are appreciated...
Should I buy it?

Re: Should I buy it?
It's not really a great deal so unless you know you'll sell or use enough to be back in your money I would think it over...
Engine, LSD, some electronic/electrical parts will be the easier one to sell but that won't get you $2000 then you'll be left with harder/cheaper parts to get rid of...

I disagree with Delicat....engine, trans, transfer case, diffs........will get you more than $2k plus any electronics, interior, any undamaged body bits.....well worth it if you have the time/ money and space.

Re: Should I buy it?
It is a hell of a lot of work to strip down a Delica, even with crude measures not preserving all parts. If you have buyers for the parts ahead of time, it may be worthwhile, or if you want the parts yourself, otherwise leave it to the pros (tell Glenn and collect a commission
)
So expect 30 to 40 hours of your labour to pull it apart in the cost of purchase. If you are patient you may make up your money, otherwise, who knows. I sold parts off of mine for very little money as they had to be shipped (expensive for most part, even the glass) In the end the only way I made the money back I bought it off of ICBC was trading most of the parts for my new van. The only thing I kept was the LSD and lift kit. Spare parts are always nice to have on hand but they need to be stored properly to stay useful and really, how often do you use them? For the cost of stripping and storing most new or used parts are available.

Re: Should I buy it?
All great feedback, Thanks.
I'm no thinking so much of selling it off as just maintaining my own Deli.
lots to consider at a time when you can buy a house in nice spots near surf breaks in California for under $10 000.
The reason he is selling it: Can't afford a trailer hitch!
$2000 will buy him another buddies 4-runner that has a hitch so he can pull his catering cart around.
Don't suppose any ideas on that problem out there?

Re: Should I buy it?
It still works you say? Why not try to find someone who wants to keep it alive? A running deli for 2 or 3 or 4 thousand is a good deal. For myself I'd way rather get stuff from the wreckers as needed, even if it does cost more, than store and dismantle a wreck that might not even have the bit you need!

Happy Day!
