Headlight Compliance Certificate

Hi everybdoy,

I recently read the post on "roadside inspection nightmare" and I have read a few posts on the headlight compliance issues (DOT, E3 / E4 etc.) and I am a bit confused.

My L300 van has the exact same headlights as every other L300 I have so far seen in Canada - and I happily cruised past numerous police cars with my van without any challenges so far.

So on the weekend, I decided to check the glove box and look for the "compliance certificate" not knowing exactly what to look for (i.e. what it would look like).

Unfortunately I am somewhat ignorant when it comes to paperwork - but I could not find anything in my little plastic ICBC insurance folder that anywhere near resembled such a certificate.

Could anybody let me know what exactly to look for (if you have a scan or jpg of the layout of the form I would know what to look for)?

And if I turn out to not have such a piece of paper, is there a way to obtain one? I could always claim that I unfortunately lost it or so...

Chris, it is the BC Inspection Sticker, it is a column shape with the months printed on so it can be cut off at the month compliance was done. Each Year has a different colour sticker. Some delica's have them stuck on their windows. About 3 inches long by 1.5 inches wide (maybe, from memory). It means the entire vehicle passed compliance at that date.

We dont carry ours, I think many drivers dont either, as one could NOT have gotten initial ICBC insurance without it. Just dont antagonise officers or inspectors, then won't need it.
