Quick crystal shade question!

Post by huemedia »

Hi All,

I have a 92 exceed and 1 of the crystal shades stopped working yesterday. The strange thing is there was no indication that there was anything wrong. In fact one day i just tried to retract it and nothing. No sound or anything. It did not show any signs of wear leading up to it. So.....is this related to the motor or is it more likely an electrical problem? All of the other shades are working perfectly as always.

Note, I have read through many posts about shade problems but they all seem to point to clip issues. This is definately not the case for me.

Thanks for any help,
Hugh

I believe these are individually cable driven (small motor drives small cable) and the cable breaks ........

could be what is wrong with yours. I guess they are a pain in the bottom to fix involving removal of the head liner etc.....etc...

maybe somebody else can shed some better light on the fix...

also there have been numerous posts on fixing these not just for the clips but also the cable i do believe.....mine all work so i have not had to do such a search yet :-D :M

good luck

cheers

if the shade is stuck closed it's the motor or wiring likely, when the clips break the shade springs back to the open position and sticks there.
