Axels interchange

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

I would like to know if axles from other mits 4x4 are interchangeable to the 1990 delica ? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP P.S I would like to stay with mits only as I live in southern Oregon U.S and would be converting a 2wd van wagon to 4x4 Delica

yes other axels will fit, but i don't have a list of what fits and what doesent.
I put a set of Toyota axels under one so it had the solid front axel and not the IFS.

I would love more information about that swap... what was the length of the toyota axel/what was the donor vehicle? how easy was it, and what fabricating had to be done to mount it? I really would be interested in doing that mod. Would you do it again? (if so, how much $$?)

we used the axels out of a v6 four runner, as they were very comon with the toyota E-Locker , the rear was almost a direct bolt in, just moved the spring perches and shock mounts, the shocks got In-boarded,
the front, that was ALOT of work, personally I would not do it again as no one wants to pay the money it takes in labor hours, let alone the hours and hours spent thinking about over coming the front geometry and parts.
Its not something to tackle if you dont have alot of wrenching experience and unless your comfortable with re-designing your steering,shock mounts and taking off the entire front axel .But if you are, your delica really does become a serious 4x4 the aproach angle is Amazing , you will need to get the rear leafs re-arched or rebuilt, on this van it was spring OVER. so the back has to come up to match up with the front springs.

once the fist one was done it was not so bad to think about doing another, but its alot of work, its do-able over a weekend if you have your steering linkages sorted out and good welding and fab ability. Personally if your going to do it, spend the extra $400 and get the birfield eliminator kit so you can back up with your wheels turned and not snap a birf, or get the rings welded on the outside, or "Smurfed" and you can use the birfields with out as much concern.
