Starting out the camper build. Will post as I add stuff on.

A before thanks to Jesse (parkside) and Jay (tardisdeli) for doing the mechanical and electrical work while I was acting as observer.

I wanted to get rid of all the carpet. All of it. You would not believe dust and dirt that's inside it all. Panels, floor, etc...

Once that was done. A quick clean and then started to measure. Ended up making a template out of cardboard the full size of the entire rear deck from engine to tailgate.

From that I took two 4x8 sheets of marine plywood (water resistant) and about 40 sq feet of Damplifier Pro.

I chose these based on recommendations. I wanted a van that if it got wet or soaking inside that I could dry it out and nothing would rot or smell.

It's expensive and I was humming and hawing but finally bought and put it in. Huge huge difference in sound deadening.

Side panels out and filled with expanding foam to block the little cracks where the road dust and dirt blows in.

Laying down the Damplifier Pro and using the small roller and a rubber mallet to shape it. It took a loooong time. Reserve an entire morning-afternoon if you plan on doing this.

Great post and great work. I was happy to sound proof my engine cover and front foot well last weekend and I think I would have used that stuff had I know about it. I ended up using building blue skin and I am stoked on the results. I got a feeling that the product you used would have made even more difference. Looking forward to seeing the result. Did you consider Rhino lining as a finish? I did Rhino in the front of my last van but without any sound proofing and it ended up rather noisy. Again, GREAT work. How many SF of the sound proof liner did you buy and where did you source it?

Very Nice!
I like the no rot approach, good for the wet coast.
Seems like a serious product.(the damplifier)
Looks like a pain to install for sure!
Watching the salesman in the video on the web site ,I wonder how much
of that stuff I would need not to hear him. :-D

A solid foundation worthy of your interior project for sure!

Right on! 8-)

Anybody with other (cheaper) suggestions?
Could be a new thread too.

Nope although there are two poptop Chamonix's that have the same color (black w/ silver or gold) that are treking around BC/AB.

Jessie were you able to buy the Damplifier Pro locally or did you need to order it from Ontario?

Any info would be appreciated.

Very nice! how big of a difference does the damplifier make?

if you didn't toss that carpet out I bet there's a forum member that would love it. Mine was wrecked and I got Pedro's old one after he upgraded :-)

I bought it locally from a hotrod shop in Langley.

It was very expensive.

The next time around I would look for a less costly solution.

It was a one off, guinea pig me first thing.

Works great but not worth the $$$ unless it's already in eh Joe ? :-D

I really like your post about flooring the delica; very informative photos. Are there photos of the finished product?

I've also taken a look at cobsweb's floor http://www.delica.ca/forum/resilient-fl ... -7836.html and his use of domestic carpet underlay to great effect.

I might go with a blended approach and use a mix of the fancy sticky stuff for the wheel wells and vertical surfaces, and carpet underlay for the floor itself.

Regarding the SecondSkin (http://www.secondskinaudio.com/index.php) product(s), the local dealer I found was "Hotrod Corner" in Surrey (https://hotrodcorner.com/). I've done some more reading on installation and they would have you start with the vibe barrier (what you used) then add a noise damper (http://www.secondskinaudio.com/products ... lation.php. Ugh. No question it works but holy expensive.

So I've been hunting down alternative sources/competitive options...

Rich, I bought it from Hotrod central and it was costly per sq foot.

Turtle has since moved onto a happy new owner.

Perhaps he shall make an appearance, this masked man of mystery ! 8-) :-D

ATTN: Current mystery owner...

How did the sound deadening work out and what does the floor look like now?

Hey,
I will post a pic at some point ,its pretty
minimalist. Marine plywood on the whole
bottom then dampener mat, foam and foil bubble
mat (like for water heaters)on the walls.
I do believe it does deaden the sound a good
amount, but I can still hear my side
exhaust which belches a sweet low tone
and gives me great comfort.
If it had not been installed by Jesse before
handover my Scottish/French genetics would
not allow for such an outlandish expense.

Right ON! :-D
