Map light

Post by flyfishn »

So I am missing one of the green bulbs for one of my map lights. Can I get those at CT? Is there a certain wattage?

Cheers
James

Do you mean the light above the front seats? Bulbs are white usually. but we did put try a red one to prevent night vision blindness but was too dim. They are just normal "Festoon Bulbs" yes you can get them at any car parts place, check prices tho as they vary. Just get the cheap ones in the package hanging on the wall, don't need the parts counter ones.

Thanks. Sorry, I should have said the lights near the rearview mirror.
The one that does have a bulb is green amd works quite well. Now I know what I am looking for.

You should ask Mararmeisto what LED's he bought for his van. He's using red LED festoons for his map and dome lights. Very bright!

Used a red LED festoon for the driver's side, and a white for the passenger. LED festoon's come in different intensities. In retrospect a soft white LED would have been fine as well.

So can you find these LED's at any auto parts store as well?
So I can swap out all the interior lights?

There is a thread from about a year back regarding the complete set of interior lights. I recall posting the list of all the required sizes and recommended types. Shouldn't be too hard to find. Doing the whole van with LED's is surprisingly expensive.
