well.... maybe this will get Japanoids attention...

Post by Adrock »

Last sunday I decided to finally set out and pick up an oil filter. I've had my 5w40 synthetic for a while and its going to be no use if it warms up much more. Closest place I know is Japanoid in new west (i'm in port moody now)

Walk in the door around 2 i'd say.

nobody at the counter. There is a guy to the left of the counter sitting on a laptop staring at the screen... and another staring at the wall talking on his phone in an office. I am in the line of sight of both of these men for at the very least 5 minutes, felt like 10 but you know how that is. Not even an i'm busy wave. So I finally walked out.

Don't you notice when someone walks in the door? Should I get you guys a buzzer or something ffs?

How the hell do they sell cars?

I've had one decent experience with them before, bought a ladder, no one was overly friendly or helpful though. A take it or leave it attitude which I don't mind in an industry that doesn't require service.

I won't go back based on this experience. It shouldn't be like pulling teeth to spend my money. And a business only gets to waste an hour and a half of my time once.

got an account number I can use?

I've been charged in the $40-50 range at lordco and napa, whereas some importers have them for 18-25

and I'd rather not have to go through the "well I can get it cheaper here" game. I'd rather just go there. Unfortunately japanoid was not there.

This isn't fair at all. :-(

Japanoid are open Monday to Friday, and hop to it whenever anybody walks in. Expecting service at other times is unrealistic, whether the door is open or not.

I can understand Adrocks frustration... if the door is open and you can waltz in and stand at the counter in plain sight without any acknowlegement, for instance... "yes, can I help you?"... "somebody will be with you in a moment"... "sorry, we're closed", I would be incredibly frustrated too and if I had a forum to vent upon, I would AND I would not return to that business.

Understand, I am generalizing here as I have never dealt with Japanoid and certainly don't mean any disrespect to Laura and her experiences... with bad, also comes good. We usually don't hear about the good.

I will say that any business that relies on retail of some sort that isn't at least open on a Saturday or later in the evening is catastrophically missing the mark with it's client base as most of us work those very same hours and can't get to whatever place it is we need in that time. Most businesses I know need as much business as they can get these days.

Hopefully this is an isolated incident and even more hopefully, Japanoid will recognize a missed opportunity (however small or large) and become more successful as a result. Obviously, I support small business...

Delicately balancing on the fence...

This is not unfair.

I stated the facts of what happened, as well as my opinion of the situation.

If everyone thinks I am in the wrong no one has anything to worry about.

Sorry to hear about your situation, as you have probably read my thread and know how I feel. As far as it not being fair I dont quite get that. If you went into a grocery store late at night on a sunday and the cashier walked away to do some other work and made you wait 10min would you say its my fault for coming in.........if your open for buisness then you should always be at your best. I work in retail and have for many years and I would never do that.

just my 2 cents though, and everyone's experiences can be different maybe we just always come in on there off days?? and you on the good days?? lol I wish it was different because they are in a handy location for me....

Scratch that.

I'll be nice.

Adrock. Go to peterbuilt or any trucker shop and pickup the BD Baldwin filters.

Cut open, they are the best one out there for the 2.5

Adrock,

I can pick up a filter on my account for you if you wish. Just let me know and I might even be able to have it dropped off in Port Moody for you.

Cheers.

When I need oil filters I usually pick up a half dozen at a time. I think I'm sitting on 8 or 9 at the moment.

Call out to the Delica clan if your in a pinch. Id have tossed you one. I have BD28's and I grabbed a half doz from Mardy a few weeks back.

Oil filters are like underwear, you should have at least 1 spare in the drawer :-D

Oya, as far as Japanoid goes, Ive dealt with David and the boys. Ya, I've walked in and nobody up front on more than one occassion, but that doesnt stop me from walking through out to the shop. It doesnt stop me from doing that at any shop I go to.
