New L400 (Hopefully) on the way!

Post by Mr. Flibble »

I stopped by Vancouver and met Mardy. Got to test drive one of his L400 SWB's. I was fine on the highway - trying to get used to being on the right side. But I think I scared him (I know I scared myself!) turning left at a light in Richmond. I don't normally drive in a busy city, so it is stressful just driving my own truck which I have had for years in Vancouver. (I asked Mardy to drive me back to his shop at Ikea because I want to get used to driving on the right on my own BEFORE I tackle Vancouver traffic. :-D :-D )

If all goes well, the L400 Mardy found for me will be on the way over in the near future. (I like that Mardy won't get it of course if it turns out not to be good.)

So, I am now just waiting to see if it is in good shape - I don't even have photos of it yet! (But I did look at a LWB Green Super Exceed which should be fairly similar to the one in Japan at the moment.)

Thanks Jfarsang! :-D

Got some photos from Japan (I got 41 of them, but I won't spam the forum with all 41 :-D ):

Now I just need a name for my Deli...

Oh, and I need to pick up some Delica.ca stickers! 8-)

*EDIT* I figured out the name of my Deli... Obviously with my fandom and the color - I have to pick the name "Starbug".

Nice wood trim on the centre console. And an Offroad Express model. You'll have to swing by once you get it back to the Island.

Hi and grats on finding the one for you!

I found it took about two weeks of driving to get used to driving on the right, meaning until it felt normal and I didnt have to think about it at all. Being a little goofy and enjoying a few bars of music once in a while I would at times sing "Always look on the right side of life! ..." Recently I took out a friends vehicle for a spin and it felt odd being on the left lol.

Congrats :-D :-D on the new to you ride! Don't sweat driving on the right side as it will become second nature to you.
Prepare yourself for the odd windshield wiper signal, and passenger seat confusion for the first few days 8-)
I have been driving RHD long enough now to hop into a work truck with the keys in my hand and have to get out and walk to the drivers side  Enjoy and good luck!

I see you have the rare tow bar on the back hatch.

It's to tow people in the snow via rope like waterskiers.

Bumper-skiing! Used to do that as a kid in Kamloops when I was growing up.

EXACTLY! :-D :-D :-D
Lister: Any damage?
Kryten: Not too bad, a couple of sensors are out, the fuel intake chambers are both flooded, and the left
pilot seat doesn't go up and down anymore.
Cat: We came through that intact?
Kryten: Starbug was made to last sir, this old baby's crashed more times than a ZX81.
Lister: It's what it's made of. Back in the 22nd Century, aerospace engineers discovered that after a plane
crash, the only thing that always survives intact is a cute little doll, so they made Starbug out of
the same stuff.
Cat: Is that a fact?
Lister: Cat, you're so gullible.
Cat: Thanks!

Come on Green1, you can't go posting all about your great ride and then expect those of us who are (were?) Delica less to not want one! :-D I really needed the Royal more than anything for the seats to get, um, permission to get a Deli. Heated seats were a spousal requirement.

Hahah, I am not certain that is how it was factory advertised, but I am certain it will get used in that capacity.

I will be by! Might be a bit though as I just got a message from Mardy that Starbug is getting ready for shipping, but not yet in a crate.

schweeet! If I could afford the extra height of the Crystal Light roofs, I'd be there too!

I've seen the OffRoad Express referenced before; is this a trim set like the Jasper or Chamonix on the L300s?

Regardless, nice ride!

I wish I knew! I googled it, and it seems there are a few others out there. The ones I have seen all have this same paint scheme, but the "Offroad Express" sticker was not in the same location. Offroad Express is actually a popular 4X4 magazine in Japan, so perhaps it is not a specific model? I hope someone can enlighten me on that.
