Okies, heres the scoop, the rear of my L300 is lifted (extended shackles, Brake pipe extended & 2" shock extenders)
On the front ive fitted 1" ball joint spacers and jacked up the torsion bars as far as they can go and i'm hitting a
brick wall regarding reindexing the torsion bars to gain an extra inch.
This is how I've been trying to do it (after looking at guides on forums)...
1) Jack up front, make sure wheels are off the ground and fit axle stands.
2) Unwind both torsion bar lock nuts and adjuster nuts until they are completely off.
3) Mark with tipex/white paint a line going right accross the rubber boot and further each side onto metal to mark "standard" settings.
3) pull the rubber boot back.
4) Pull end of torsion bar back until you are able to twist into new splines and add an extra spline or 2 before pushing end back on.
5) Reasemble
This is where I hit a problem!... when I have added 1 extra spline, there isnt enough bolt left showing through to actually get the nut to go on!
i.e.. theres only enough thread to get the nut back on with standard position and on the passenger side the nut only "Just" goes back on in standard position.
Am I doing something wrong??? Somewhere else I need to be jacking up??
Maybe try jacking the torsion bar up with spare jack once its resplined???
Maybe my torsion bars are just old tired and shot?? (like me after spending half a day trying to fix this)
If anyone else could point out what im doing wrong it would be greatly appreciated!!!
Regards
Rich

Jack up the front until it's approx at the lifted height you'd like.
Then undo the tbar nuts all the way
pull the rubber boot back
mark then bar and the control arm
pull the tbar out and rotate 1 spline and check
2-3 splines is average to reindex the fronts with a 2" lift depending on how saggy your tbars are

Re: Ran into problems reindexing my torsion bars....
If I understand correctly... trying to visualize as I would like to go thru the exercise myself... by jacking the vehicle to the approximate desired height after having undone the lock-nuts (instead of wheels off the ground) the adjuster would then have enough room to enable the nuts to go back on the threads after re-indexing?
Shouldn't having the wheels hanging give more room to re-thread the nuts provided he has re-indexed the correct number of splines? Seems like such a simple mechanical adjustment... wondering if there is perhaps another problem unique to BFG's situation?
As Jfarsang is pretty much the expert on this and knows these things inside-out and backwards, I just wanted to ask the obvious. I'm a little confused...

Re: Ran into problems reindexing my torsion bars....
Managed to sort it out earlier today, I removed bump stops 1st (even though they were cut down to 40% size), jacked deli alot higher than I did 1st time, dropped onto stands and removed the jack, took wheels off and undid the torsion bar lock nut and adjuster bolt all the way off and straight away I noticed more thread than last time?? Reindexed easily 3 splines passenger side and 2 splines drivers side but had to use a jack under the passenger side torsion bar arm slightly just to get the nut on.
I wound the bars up 85% Passenger side and 60% drivers side and they are perfectly balanced left to right (lucky guess) but nearly an inch higher than rear of Deli which is already shackle lifted.
It was absolutely hammering with rain (wasnt when I started the job though) and I got soaked to the skin, so left it an inch higher at the front untill I get back out there to drop it slightly to balance out front to rear.
Ta for advice on this guys :D

Is that with you sitting in it?left it an inch higher at the front untill I get back out there to drop it slightly to balance out front to rear.
Depending on how beefy a Brit you are, you are probably getting pretty close to ideal.
Right ON!
