Wondering about getting my front end fixed(icbc claim)

Post by g_man1972 »

A good day to all. Not looking to be spoon fed here, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with getting their Deli fixed up with an ICBC claim?

Had an unfortunate incident the other day, ran into the back of a taxi. Everyone is fine, it was a mild rear ender, but enough to damage the full front assembly, bumper, bullbars and... black plastic thing that holds the bull bars. I got the icbc claim already, but am curious about how it should work. Should I take it to a shop and they will be responsible for sourcing parts or do I have to try and get them myself? Not very optomistic about pulling into a shop saying, "here you go, I'll be back in a few hours to pick it up" If I could find the parts I need, could I buy them and charge back ICBC? I know this is a question I should be asking the adjuster, but as I said, just trying to get ideas from people who have had to deal with it already. I like going into things informed.

Obviously the second part of this will be, anyone got and extra bumper, bull bar and black thing to hold them all together. Coming soon to a delica web site near you 8-)

Hope everyone has a nice weekend
Cheers
Gary

A good shop should be able to source the parts.....if not you can offer some suggestions for them ie. CCAUTOS, Mardy, the usual suspects. Your other option is to take a payout from ICBC and do the repairs yourself.

I just had my L300 fixed a month ago from a front collision (not my fault). I called my insurance adjuster who told me to take it to an approved repair shop in the area. I took my van in and I told them I would email them some dealer names in case they could not find anything through their usual sources. They contacted Mitsubishi Toronto but even with pictures they got nowhere. I would have liked to have heard that conversation!!! Of course they could not find the VIN number so that made things very confusing.

So needless to say my list of dealers in BC was very helpful. After that the body shop did everything, they were amazing.

The whole process took 6 weeks but I live in Ontario and two of those weeks were over Christmas and New Years.

Thanks for all the info guys, not as daunting a task as I thought it would be. I thought I may be driving all over the lower mainland, only to have place after place shake their head and say sorry, can't help.

Mardy, thanks for the lead, I'll give you a call in the next day or so.

On the positive side, it seems like us deli owners are pretty careful drivers if this topic hasn't come up much.
