So i went into rona yesterday looking for a few wood screws, little did i know that fate had more in store for me that day...
i was wandering around the solar lighting section and found a 900w power inverter on clearance for $23.75! MSP$99.99.
of course the unit called out to me, and i took her home!
i don't think its' a true sine wave, but you can't beat $24bucks!
looks like i need to repair the weak connectors on the power cables, and find a spot to mount it in the beast...
Oh man Almac, you win the best hunter-gatherer of bargains. Dont' forget to stick a hugely huge fuse close to the battery, on a line of 2 guage, dedicated just to that beast. Must rush off to check out Rona now....cheers, Christine.

No luck, in the pouring rain, I went to the one at Kingsway and Edmonds. Helpful fellow there said solar stuff and inverters only at the bigger stores, and often only Back East stores, and their website does not say which store carries which products ie search word solar just says "in selected stores" but helpful fellow suggests trying our nearest big store at Grandview Hwy past Rupert. I gave up.
Instead went to wander around my favourite outdoor store, in New Westminster, Army and Navy, and admire all the new camping gadgets. Who needs electricity anyway, soon it will be warm enuf not to need my electric blanket, and I can always turn the engine on for heat -- ignoring the humungus leap in price for diesel fuel recently, why?? -- and I have a propane hot water dispenser thingy for showers, and who needs my microwave when I can always dig out the old coleman 2 burner stove and the rusty can of white gas if my current inverter toasts itself. I think I will end here and find me a nice cuppa tea and a comfy chair. Cheers, Christine.
