That's a heck of a deal if it is 1000W continuous power; is the rating continuous power or max (surge) power?

Comparable Costco version sells for $400 (1000W Cont, 2000W surge)

Hmmm. Not the most glowing review from one of the purchasers (copied from CT's own website):

"1000 watt Pure Sine inverter 11-1892-4.Have extensive experience with inverters, running most of my house off grid for some years now. Tried this inverter, but returned it. Don't know if a design problem, advertising errors, of a defect, but compared to other, cheaper, modified sine, 1000 watt inverters, this ones output was only about half, and no surge at all for starting even very small motors. Impressive looking "heat sinks" on the sides, turned out to be plastic fakes. The real heat sinks are far smaller, internal, and cooled by fan. Also, unlike quality pure sine inverters, this one did not have an output transformer. Price. I take no pleasure in reporting this, but I guess perhaps there is a reason why the price is so low. Had really hoped it would be as claimed. Looks like you get what you pay for. CTC was good about taking it back and would have ordered in a replacement, but I didn't want them to be stuck with a second one in case it was the same way."

I'm gonna take a close look at one if I get the chance, but I'm not as excited as I was at first. Sounding a bit too good to be true.
