As some of you may know, the Engine in our Delica is kaput. and died in Calgary.
We've been waiting and waiting for a new engine to turn up at coombs,
you can read all about it and the pyrometer debate, in the member trips section.
Well at long last SOMETHING has turned up. A Pajero Engine, which Coombs says with a little modification, will fit in my deli fine, and we could finally get back on the road.
Does anyone have any strong emotions either way on the subject? Go for it!? or not an option!?
I have untill monday to decide, and i could really use some advice...
Thanks again, Delica Community.
I owe you all a beer.

Re: Pajero Engine into the Delica?
Hey,
A Pajero block with work great,
the modification (among other things)
will be the injection pump
and turbo set-up (Paj has an intercooler).
Glen and Gang at CCautos know how to do
this quite nicely.
Good Luck!

Delica.ca nerd Edit:
also that's a 2.5 pajero engine (4D56T) which is
essentially the same engine,Pajero got the 2.8(intercooled)
in July 1993 or so,a little before the L400's came
out with that powerplant as well.

Re: Pajero Engine into the Delica?
phew. New engine. made it home from calgary with few problems. noticed significantly better gas mileage, running a bit more rumbly, and had issues with popping into 4wd. headed up to Coombs any day now to have it all looked over, just to be safe.
I want to thank everone who made phonecalls, gave advice, gave their cautionary tales and reassuring back patting. also the overwhelming offers of hospitality. all of you seriously kick ass.
I'll let you all know what coombs says.
woo! back on the road!
