Well, having the van back got me looking at all the little rock chips
and specs of rust. Purely surface but I was thinking I needed to do
something about it. And then make it so it wouldn't happen again.
I picked up some box liner stuff from the Walker's paint supply
(can't recall the name) and was thinking... hmmm black...
I took the mouse sander to the roof and to the lower front bumper.
POR-15'd the bare metal then put this stuff on it. I almost didn't
since the POR-15 black coats soooo nice and smooth with a brush.
But it needs a cover coat of something since UV rays are hard on
it otherwise.
This morning I put the roof racks back on and put the light's and
gear back on. Looks pretty decent. I knew there was going to be
texture to it and It's growing on me. Only thing now is that the
texture will trap dust and I go into dusty places.
I also took out the level indicator next to the altimeter and put
in my boost/vacuum gauge. It looks good there. Thanks to
Tiny for putting that bug into my mind.
Stuck on some new LED driving lights.. hopefully they aren't too bright
for Daytime driving lights.
Weird thing was before I noticed that my stereo was causing my lights
to flicker. I put the sub back in (since it was out during that) and also
tried to trace the wiring around. Tried to replicate it in the dark garage
but couldn't. So I am not sure if it's gone now, the sub being unhooked
did something weird or maybe my batteries are the culprit. Im sure they
are about 3 years old, dual energizers which have worked good till now?
Maybe they are on the way out after being drained due to my alternator
dying and being rebuilt.
I'll have to wait and see what happens next time I am driving.

The texture from the box liner looks great. I used similar stuff (rocker guard) for our bull bar: http://dinoevo.de/2010/05/bull-bar/ No paint chips anymore.
