Hi all, have couple of questions re my 1993 Delica.
Have developed a situation where the van blows heavy amounts of black smoke when under load.If at highway speed i put my foot into the fuel at all she just starts blowing black. As soon as i get back into the revs either by dropping out of overdrive or kicking down with excelerator she clears out almost immediately??? Seems to have developed fairly recently.
Also i live in Southern Alberta and need to find a reliable tech to look at the van, would consider travel to BC if needed.
If anyone can help with either of these issues i would appreciate it greatly
Thanks
G.

Check the airfilter then:
1. Check timing, make sure the belt hasn't slipped.
2. Disable, or blank off the EGR valve. (If it's jammed open it'll have to blanked)
3. Adjust turbo boost.
Use the "search" option to find information regarding all these.

Definitely check air filter, a clogged air filter will cause the air/fuel mixture to be over-rich. You know how to check air filter?
Wouldn't hurt to put a can of injector cleaner in the fuel -- just make sure it is diesel compatible.
Major engine work in Calgary is a pain. Some people have had good success with ProActive, others have had unhappy results. For injection stuff, Stevos is probably the best bet in this area.
When I had injection issues, and needed the pump rebuilt, I made it an excuse to go to Vancouver and take it to CVI in Richmond.
(Also, might I suggest to modify your profile to show where you live, helps us all to give advice relevant to where you live.)
