Cargo Boxes
Just got a Yakima Rocket Box for my L400. Wondering if anyone else has mounted a cargo box on there roofs and what sort of millage reductions they observed or any kind of stability issues say in strong winds? Dont want it rolling my ride.

Re: Cargo Boxes
I have a giant roof pod that used to belong to Delicat and have carried the spare tire in it amongst other stuff. Didn't officially keep track of the mileage but didn't notice any real significant jump in fill-ups at the pump. I have also done a fair bit of off-roading with it on the roof and haven't had any reason for concern even at 30 degree side slopes.
That said, you must be aware of the change in "feel" especially when off-roading - it does add weight to the high point (of course) and will affect your 'heel' angles at some point.
Similar to the old mechanics saying of tightening the bolt to 1/4 turn before the bolt breaks... the secret is to stop leaning 1 or 2 degrees prior to rolling...
