DELICA SERVICE SHOP RECOMMENDATIONS and RATINGS

Post by jessef »

Disclaimer: this thread expresses the feedback of individual forum members, and not the opinion of delica.ca

You can only rate the service shop you had work performed on a your Delica/Pajero. If you wish to participate, please feel free to answer any of the following information (or only one question).

- The service shop where you had the work performed
- Please state if it was a positive, neutral, or negative experience
- Any relevant information you'd like to include about your experience
- Would you recommend them to others?

If you are going to leave the story of your experience, please make sure to also state the overall experience as either positive, neutral, or negative, and your overall recommendation (should you choose to). It's great to put both positive and negative aspects, but for the sake of categorizing your response, I don't want to assume anything.

I'll keep track of the answers in this post (listed alphabetically). Some customers brought more than one Delica to the same service shop, with different experiences, so the number of ratings do not always equal the number of customers to the service shop.

To make sure that each response is authentic, the following guidelines have been put in place:
1. Responses are accepted only from those who have been a member for at least one month and have posted on other threads
2. After leaving feedback I will pm you to confirm your feedback. Ratings will not be changed until I receive a reply from the confirmation pm.

Those responses that do not meet the above criteria will be considered "pending" (see list below).

NOTE: This thread is not for glorifying or venting - just plain and simple feedback about your experience.

DEALERS/SERVICE SHOPS: If you wish to respond to neutral or negative feedback from the customer, again please first pm the customer to resolve the issue, and then either the customer can edit their post to add the outcome (best option), or you can write a post to explain the result of the interaction (second-best option). The purpose of this post (as stated above) is to gain feedback from customers about their experience in your shop, for the sake of helping future Delica owners. Of course, I realize it is one side of the transaction story. If you wish to thank the customer for their kind feedback, please do so via private message.

Thanks, everyone, for keeping this thread relevant and objective.

**** IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK ON A SERVICE SHOP THAT IS NOT LISTED, PLEASE PM ME WITH THE DETAILS ****

*this list will get long and continue to grow. Please feel free to express your personal experiences and opinions.

I'll start.

Service shop : Amazing Auto Imports
http://www.amazingautoimports.com/
Rating : Positive
Recommendation : 100%

Good prices and excellent work. Always have had good service from Mardy's mechanics. They are very thorough and do high quality work and a very competitive price. Only issue is that he is hard to get a hold of at times. This is not a bad thing. It means he's busy and both of his hands can't answer the phone. I've had my Pajero and Delica's in there over the years.

Service shop : ATEB Auto Tech Engine
http://www.ateb4x4.com/
Rating : Positive
Recommendation : 100%

ATEB have been in business for 12 years servicing the JDM diesel industry in Canada. They have extensive experience in engine/turbo/injection system rebuilding and repairing. They are the shop that was used by Outback Imports (one of the highest held importers for their exemplary service records) exclusively for years. I have personally had very professional experiences and top-notch work. Although they specialize in Toyota and Nissan's, they welcome Delica's and Pajero's. They are up there with CVI and Coombs Auto for shop rates, however they do very good work. Mostly in-house and do not outsource.
I've had my Pajero and Toyota Landcruises (diesels) in there multiple times for healthy servicing.

Service shop : CVI Automotive
http://cviauto.com/
Rating : Positive
Recommendation : 100%

Butch and Edwin know these machines inside & out. Very well organized and welcome you in their shop with questions and they provide answers. Very good atmosphere and they provide a very good hands on approach if you are curious about your Delica. Only issue is they are often busy, so it may be difficult depending on your schedule to get squeezed in. This, of course, is normal for all busy shops. I've had my Pajero and Delica's in there over the years.

Service shop : Japanoid
http://www.japanoid.com/
Rating : Neutral
Recommendation : 50%

For parts, Japanoid provides good service. For service, on two separate occasions, I have had poor service. On one occasion, I had asked for an oil change and to check the glow plugs. They did the oil change and replaced my glow plugs (without my consent). I told them that I asked just to check the plugs but they 'thought' I said to change them. After this, my ECU didn't work. Whether it was coincidence that the ECU stopped working that day they replaced the glow plugs or that it failed on it's own, I don't know. Second occasion, I had asked them to replace an upper balljoint and check the tierods for play. They replaced the upper balljoint and replaced both inner/outer tie rods without my consent, again. I gave them a piece of my mind and that was my last dealings with them. My notes : They charge a very high premium for average work performed. If you absolutely must use them for service, please be very clear on what you want done and what you will NOT pay for IF they do anything else. I've had my Pajero in there twice.

I buy my parts from wherever is cheapest and take them to Werner's Auto Klinik. He will order parts but it will cost a bit more. He also has very reasonable rates and takes great pride in his work. He has given me numerous tips on how to save money and has waved some minor fees.
Overall it is a great atmosphere, quick and reliable service and inexpensive. For those jobs you can't do yourself I would definitely recommend this shop.
