Mission Impossible? - Delica Parade at Canada Place

Post by impalator »

Last Friday we happened to visit with family who were staying at the Fairmont Waterfront by the convention center... I had heard before on CBC Radio that Tom Cruise was in town for the shooting of some scenes of Mission Impossible 4 (how many more of these are they gonna make?)...

At any rate, when we left the hotel later that evening, they were just gearing up to shoot a scene with a large variety of RHD machines all done up with some flowers and what looked like license plates from India or Indonesia or something like that... there were also lot's of signage and posters etc. in what looked like Hindi or whatever as well as a bunch of palm trees...

I captured a quick shot on my Blackberry... not the best quality shot... but anyway...

If anybody will attempt to watch MI4 (if that was indeed what they were filming) look for this sequence... (I might have to go check it out too, despite not particularly caring for Tom Cruise...)

Cheers,
Chris

The funny thing is... whoever is watching this in Indonesia is going to turn to his buddy and say: "That's not in Asia..... I mean... look at all those Delicas... that's got to be somewhere like Vancouver."

You can tell for sure it's in India - the guy in the foreground wearing a parka is a dead giveaway... 8-)

So he's from the Himalayas....... :?

Actually, that is not a parka. I think that is long hair and I could be wrong but I think that is a Production Designer by the name of Richard Hudolin... Looks like him from behind.

I guess the all important question would be: Who offered their Deli's for this scene? It wasn't me... I wouldn't want Tom Cruise fire a few bullets into my ride just to make his case... :-)

It looks like one of the Deli's has a pretty sturdy roof rack mounted... probably made in India...

Although Bangalore is an up and coming high-tech city with lots of modern buildings, glass, steel and concrete, I think it'll be hard to sell the Vancouver convention centre as "Downtown Bangalore".... It'll be interesting how this shakes out on the big screen...

Out of curiosity (and not because I like Tom Cruise) I googled MI4 and I found that they are supposedly also featuring some action sequences in Dubai... maybe they'll shoot it in Fort McMurray... :-)

I am so hurt that my Delica did not make the scene.

I have little bells across the front window....made in India...what else do I need to do?

Turn up to the audition?

If my guess is right then I would wager that the Delica's came from Japanoid. Hudolin used them on Caprica. If it's not Richard then I figure they still came from Japanoid.

India or Indonesia? There needs to be way more garbage on those streets as well as cows walking every which way.

Nice to see all the JDM's in the movie! What are everyone's thoughts on how it turned out? I'm watching the first Mission Impossible right now and was pleasantly surprised to see a Nissan Patrol and a Delica (although they got into an accident). :-(

I noticed pajero's in about 4 scenes, one of which got a close up as he lands right on the car beside and uses the paj as cover, or to rest or something. Decent flick.
