Parking in cul de sac

I have just been informed that i cant park in the cul de sac wher im living ,i dont own the home just rent the suit from the owners who live up stairs (fantastic folks) and the strata stay at home soccer mom comity wants the space for for ther kids to run around and play so they voted to have me and outhers park out on the street ,this makes me very uneasy because i cant see the van from ther or even here the alarm go off ,now i know that strata can d o what they want to some condision but ,my question is dose this mean they OWN the frickin cul de sac too? im going to be calling around to my municipality to find out ,just wondering if any of ya might be able to steer me in a certain direction.

If this is a condo complex where the cul de sac was built expressley for the condos, then they quite likely do. hard to say without knowing the specific details, however many condo complexes have some streets in them that are owned and maintained by the condo and not the municipality.

If however it is municipally owned and maintained... continue to park there until an official no parking sign is put up.

Unfortunatley for you, in most cases a tennant has to be supplied parking by his landlord ie a designated spot on the landlords property, as not to incroach on other residents (taxpayers) ability to park. in the case of a strata i am sure it is the same gig, in fact sometimes they are more militant than the muni is... And that is assuming the rental property is a "legal" suite as far as the municipality is concerned. So your landlord pays extra taxes and water rates to reflect the fact that he or she is renting a suite, in which case the parking issue i spoke of would apply. if it is not a "legal" rental i would get a club (for your van) and not upset the strata council. i know it sucks. good luck.

Unfortunately for me, I work in strata property management, and deal with issues like yours alot. Like Green1 says, if the road was built specifically for the strata(ie not a muni road) then they may be able to boot ya, if they have a bylaw that states no one can park on the road. If they don't have such a bylaw, you should be ok to park there. As with most strata business, there is always alot of grey areas. My advice would be to try and work something out with the council,(maybe see if they'll let you park overnight there when no kiddies will be outside playing) or your landlord. And be nice, strata councils sometimes tend to be snarly. Good luck,

Some good points here. I guess the first goal would be to determine who owns the cul de sac. If it's strata owned you may have to go on bended knee (hopefully they won't try to bend you further). As suggested a compromise might be to park after hours, say 8 till 8. I know stratas well also, having been on council and living within its confines for the last few years. You stand a better chance of working something out with them amicably rather than digging your heels in. There's always people with way too much time to spend thinking of ways to screw you, so go lightly.

Yeah not to good for me as fare as the parking goes,they do own the cul de sac ,its just a pain iv been her for thee years with no problems but the ecological familys of three or four seem to need a third and fourth car ,and they dont have anymore room in there driveway so they park in the cul de sac leaving no room for visitors or kids to play hockey and smash windows ive talked to the muni. and they did confirm ownership.
