you need a machine and tools to diagnose it.
I don't think rising sun has a diesel injection pump machine to do it.
cvi don't even have a machine they are well better know as they have injection pump shop in the phils.
maybe they fix your ip buy changing the sensor and other.
you need both. Hyundai has diff spec., I even go to japan and ask this there system are diff than Hyundai.
Hyundai don't produce 4m40 engine.
so don't know if the tools are the same.
cheers

Praire owners, I need help deciding

Mardy. You don't know what they have so why are you stating you do. Sounds money based? They have already fixed some units and are doing them as needed.

yes, i dont know what they have, as far as some of my client mention to me they don't have a machine to fix it right.
i fix some customer with this delica gen 2 electronic pump, i send it out of the country.
all my pump is been done complete rebuild ,put in the machine and do it right calibration not guessing,
i don't rebuild it here, i send it out the country to have it done properly.
as nobody can guarantee me for the pump cost expensive.
i am not arguing anybody about this electronic pump service as changing the sensor and do quick fix sometime works
sometime don't.
its just customer need to know the problem later. as its quite expensive for them.
in short all of this come to cost and if customer can hold on of the big expensive to fix this electronic van.
problem now people don't have much money to spend for this type of vehicle they say service is expensive.
maybe u can fix it by changing the sensor yes u can but to do complete injection pump machine diff situation.
cost of the injection pump machine to fix this is worth nearly $100,000 i guess + plus getting another scanner another $3,000
just the cost.
u have newer gen 2, wait until you have problem with your pump,
in case like leaking and other problem,
see how much will cost you,
it will be minimum of $1,200 plus the guarantee if they can.
all what were talking here is the cost.
again its up to the customer which way to go.
like i mention before even CVI cannot fix it as they don't have complete machine.
not easy

Had my l400 for almost 4 yrs. now. We do Wpg-BC 1-2x's/yr. We load it to the gills. The winds are as challenging as the mountains. We had 4 adult, 3 kids, dog, 12' tent trailer, roof rack (stacked up), aux 200 lt tank of veggie + 100 lt veggie, 5 bikes. I have a pyro (best investment ever) and needed had to drop to 80 km for an hour or so. This was also prior to the airbag assist I put in the rear since. That was the worst experience as far as speed goes. I don't take the bikes anymore (kids don't use them) and that helps significantly. I some times have to drop to 90 on the prairies. If you are driving with no rack or trailer, this vehicle will do 100 km min against a wind. No wind, 120 easy.

Get the bigger rad and the other upgrades suggested. I spent an extra 5K more than I budgeted for at Mardy's but I'm not sorry now that I did now. I've never had an issue. Mardy is good, just not sure why he speculates what others do via 3rd parties...but let's get back to the subject here...L400. Mine is a 95 super, LWB. I have had an electronic IP on my 99 suburban 6.5 diesel. I was able to resolve the electronic issue it had but I much prefer a mechanical pump. I can drive with dead battery and not alternator...that is peace of mind in my books when making long trips. I once drove from Kenora to Winnipeg once like this with my 97 Diesel Eurovan!

That's my 2cents. I'll drive this van till it drops (5 more years should put me at 500K?) and then...well perhaps I can afford an Audi Q7 at that point. We're all allowed to dream right?

Happy Friday everyone

Thank you very much to those who have replied so far!

When I was shopping for my L300 seven years ago I was sold on the Super Exceed due to the fact that it had the crystal roof and winter package. As I get deeper into what I want this time around I feel myself being pulled away from the Super. In my experience with the crystal roof I found the novelty wore off quickly. Here in Winnipeg with the heat in the summer the shades are closed all the time and in the winter I have them open but there seems to be an almost constant layer of ice on the windows. I know with the deli's there are so may variants that I thought maybe someone could shed some light on things for me.

I feel that living here in Winnipeg that having the "winter package" which I believe includes duel batteries, larger alternator and LSD would be beneficial. Maybe things are different with the L400. I have always been drawn to the Chamonix which is offered with the winter package and no party roof, more robust paint and carpeting but I am fairly sure they only come with a bench in the middle row. I would prefer two buckets. I have seen a few vans with the Jasper badge on then but I am unsure what they offer.

Any insight would be great!

Regards

Rob

And just so you know, you won't find LSD in them any longer. Very rare from 94/95 on. But I will say that I have been really impressed with traction in my series 2 l400. I've had it all over in the mud, snow and ice. It's been mountain trail exploring, sand and beaches and through a crap load of snow and ice as I am an ice fishing nut. It's been a year since I got it from Rising Sun and it's been exactly as promised. No issues and no problems. I'd recommend them and the Chamonix model for the climate.

just to let you know rob,
the L400 gen 1 or 2 LSD is hard to find.
I do have a complete LSD rear end for the L400 gen 1 and gen 2.
the rear end housing is bigger than the regular one it wont fit.
I only have 1 set in stock now, thru 5 yrs of importing this delica L400 I only see 6 of them.
not easy to find. not like L300 super exceed they came by with LSD,
the reason that they don't put it in L400 is that L400 has awd option on it.
its hard to find this the rear end is also quite big.
the LSd is totally diff traction than all wheel drive.

cheers;
