roof top basket
Does anyone have a roof top basket for an L300. I have bars already so it can be a basket that you attach as well. Thank you.

Depending on the size you require, you can get generic roof baskets that are designed to lash onto roof bars, down at Princess Auto. I've seen them as low as $40. Deals change but I think they typically roll back around ~ maybe that can work for you?

Thanks for the info Falco.
Just called up princess auto. $216CAD taxes in for a 200lb rated roof top basket with extension. i think the overall length is 62.5"x37"x5".
It will be in two - three weeks.

Picked up the basket last night from Princess Auto in Coquitlam. 3.9.2017.
Pros:
*Good construction (depending on what you think is good) - Made in China -
*Solid but still light enough. around 35lbs for the basket and extension. 150lb capacity on two cross bars. 150-35 = 115lbs left for gear.
*Ive got a 64" cross bar so i can push this to the edge and still have enough room for a cargo box to keep stuff out of the rain. (40" width)
*Its easier to put together than the ikea crap you put together for your mom and your wife... and kids.
*Price point is good. $216 taxes in for a brand new product. I've seen people on craigslist selling baskets for $300 plus for a used product.
*For an extra $50CAD you can get another extension to make the basket a total length of 84".
*I like the low profile 5" rise.
Cons:
*It has this terrible logo on the side "Power fist" - solution - DECALS. I've seen the delica canada stickers around. how does one acquire a decal?
*if you are looking for a wide basket then this wouldn't be a choice. it is only 40" from end to end and i believe a 60" basket top would look more "gunther" like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrxqtwRZ654
*The extension powder coating is a different shade of grey than the original basket. If this bothers you then This would be a problem. I don't give a crap because i like variation. keeps things interesting.
*if you are planning to haul more than 200lbs this also wouldn't be a choice but I'm sure you know that already.
overall not to shabby. next is looking for a ladder. does anyone know of how to make a wooden ladder? any plans on one yet?

roof top basket
Hi all, new Vancouver member here... joined for my wife, who's shy about forums. When we picked up our '97 Delica Space Gear last week we were asking about rooftop stuff, and Mardy pointed out a Yakima rack and Thule ski type box he's got in to sell for another customer. Also a grey/silver metal basket. We didn't press for details - though he said something like $600 (maybe it was $800 - my memory is fuzzy on this) for the rack and the Thule - and we're not sure if the basket is part of that deal (which seems great!) or not. Might be worth asking anyway, if you're in the greater Vancouver area.

I have no idea how forums like this work! First time posting...I purchased a 1996 L400 this week and I found a few cargo racks that ship from Europe that have a rating for 400 lbs, no need to buy the bars its a whole set that comes complete specifically meant for Delicas. I'll try to find the link! (I've seemed to have lost it).
UPDATE: GOT IT! Heres the link

That flat top deck looks awesome. I went to their checkout and including shipping is $900 CAD. I'm not sure if they will charge duty at customs out this way when it arrives. is the duty still around 21% for goods purchased abroad? (Van, BC CAN) Ive heard they have lightened up about this.
Ive got the basket on now and it definitely looks smallish on top of an L300. i was going to complain about the cheap plastic knobs and thin gauge steel on the screws but it does the job better than i though. It also wouldn't be hard to fashion a new rig to hold it down for under $10 at a local hardware store. Including the bars i bought on craigslist for $200CAD. $200CAD for the basket.

Well...$200 is better than $900...I almost hit check out there on that website but my bank account would be emptied haha! I'm not sure what would happen with customs, it seems kind of hit or miss. Just to be able to purchase An all in one solution though and slap it on would be pretty nice, Might be worth paying extra I'm not sure...I'll update you if I make the plunge lol
