L300 ICBC Write Off - Custom Modifications Need a Home
Got in an accident in Vancouver today and I'm 80% sure my L300 Chamonix will be a write off due to frame damage.
As a result I will have custom modifications looking for a good home for another Lower Mainland L300. #1, #2 and #3 will be taken out of van and not go to ICBC. #4 I would need the buyer to remove flooring as my neck sore from crash.
1) Just completed L400 seats-to-L300 conversion complete with two L400 seatbelts. I literally just finished this and it is ready to drop into an L300. Could be the only one in Canada! I have $700 into this between purchasing the seats, seatbelts and custom metal fabrication. Not in a rush to sell. Fold down bed solution.
2) Full L300 curtain solution including female end of button snaps build into vents and trunk backing.
#3) L300 front rubber floor mats cut exactly for an L300.
4) Custom plastic flooring that could be taken out and installed in any L300. Haven's seen anyone else with this sweet flooring solution!
Call if interested. Andre 604 8(three)7 [two]9(nine)5

L300 ICBC Write Off - Custom Modifications Need a Home
Update: apparently the value of L300s has risen substantially with US demand now that they are over 25 years old. B&M Auto Repaid (ICBC Accredited) seems to think they can probably fix my Van including the frame bending and floor folding. Figure ICBC will go for this as replacement cost somewhere around $10,000 (1991, 210k, GREAT condition, no body rust).
I'm seeing a few comparable L300 Chamonix's with 140-150k selling for over USD 12,000 in the US.
No one has responded but all these items on hold for now. We''ll see if my Van still rides....

Update: I'll know by next week if my Van is a write off. The Chamonix may get spruced up and keep rolling. We'll see what ICBC says.

If icbc claims she's not worth repairing, I might be interested in a few bits and pieces! Picked up a '91 L300 a couple weeks back and it has some little items that need tweaking ie: only one front wiper currently, front ball joint might be cracked, might be interested in a door liner or two for my front doors. You know, the usual oddities of a 26 year old japanese bus that's on to its 3rd owner in North America.

Therhscott - still negotiating. Looking more and more like a right off. There are some really nice things you could take before I send to ICBC. I couldn't take too much out but my custom rubber floor is one of a kind!

So my L300 is going to be a write off. Someone with an L300 locally (lower mainland) should really take my L400-in-L300 custom seat modification! See above.
It's in storage and the seats won't be going to the scrapper when ICBC takes my van away.
I'll be updgrading to an L400.
6.0.4. 8.3.7. 2.9.9.5.

Seat mod officially posted for sale in quite a few places today. This link should work for at least 30 days starting December 9

I've also got a really nice condition Class 1 towing hitch in which I have religiously painted to try to control rust. Thing to do here would be to meet at E&H Hitch in Burnaby to swap.

Everything else on van staying intact so a certain dealer can keep the Delica parts circle going. I've got a good condition engine, IP, transmission and new starter motor.

Seats, floor, mats etc all gone to good home in California. Nothing left for parts unless someone really enterprising wanted to take my hitch.

FInal update. One more week before my L300 parted. Going into E&H hitch next week to get hitch removed so I'll have it available for another local Vancouver L300 owner. Will try to grab new bolts off E&H it they are rusted so if you competent you may be able to install the hitch youself. Was custom-made by E&H to fit around the L300 spare tire.

FYI - I went through Rising Sun for my new L400 so Rising Sun will take my L300 for parts. My 4D56 engine has only 212k on it, Van had a brand new starter motor, my IP had about 40-50k on it after a $700 CVI full IP overhaul and my transmission works great. Original owner imported in ~2010 and he was diligent about fluids at CVI and so was I. Van serviced at CVI from 2010-2016 when they moved, then Rising Sun. Timing belt has been done twice.
I think my van is a great source for the big 3: transmission, engine & IP if you're looking for parts. You'll have to go through Steven at Rising Sun though.

Hitch gone to Delica owner in Portland. Saw a L300 with Washington plates parked in Bellingham. Delicas in the US are so 2007-8 in Vancouver!

Hey Dr. Airtime, mind telling me what kind of value ICBC settled on and how much it costed to keep your van for salvage? My L300 was just written off because it was trashed by thieves and I’m curious what kind of settlement we’ll get. They’ve been taking their time with getting back to me so I’m curious if you have any info from your situation!
