Sometimes, after prolonged driving on WVO, my engine will idle erratically as though I were tapping the throttle every 10 seconds. Seems to not happen on Diesel.
Anyone else experience this?

Re: Inconsistent Idling
air conditioner affects the idle speed and alternator on two battery systems seems to do that as well.

bump
did you get this worked out? my truck does it too. when im stopped or idling, the idle seems to increase in 3 second intervals till eventually it wants to die. but it drives just fine.

Maybe it's not getting enough fuel when idling? are you using the filter for diesel and oil? is it heated?

if youre asking me, and not the original poster, the answer is:Mard wrote:Maybe it's not getting enough fuel when idling? are you using the filter for diesel and oil? is it heated?
the diesel is filtered by the stock filtration unit (remember, im not in a delica, yet, but a nissan) and the wvo by a heated unit. heated with a homemade thang: 1/4 coolant hose wrapped tightly around the filter, covering the whole thing quite nicely. thing is though, the idle problem happens on both diesel(or b100) and wvo. and its intermittent
i guess first thing i should do is change all filters to eliminate that from the equation...

Re: Inconsistent Idling
Do you have any electrical heating units on board? Increased drain on battery = increased strain on alternator? Seems logical.

Re: Inconsistent Idling
Could be pressure change within the injection system, a very common problem with WVO systems.

there is a glow plug that helps to heat the oil, but it shuts off when engine gets warm. however im not sure how alternator is connected to idle speed.Adrock wrote:Do you have any electrical heating units on board? Increased drain on battery = increased strain on alternator? Seems logical.
is the pressure change because of WVO in and of itself, or a change when the fuel changes? thats kind of a weird question i guess but i hope you get my drift. can it be adjusted?BCDelica wrote:Could be pressure change within the injection system, a very common problem with WVO systems.
