I have my Xmas present for years to come!!!

Post by lrp374 »

Hi Delica Nation:
I thought it was time I introduced myself after joining in late November. I have been looking for a Delica for about 4 months and as I'm recently retired I can research Delica's all day long if I wish. (The internet has way to much information.) In my searches I was lucky enough to come across this site which answered almost any question I could think of. I'm sure I've read 80 % of the entire site. I was also lucky enough to have turned a quick ten minute chat to one and a half hour lesson on Delica's from Barry @ J Cruisers ( Mustang Connection ) in Armstrong who has been importing them since 2002. I also had some good advise from 'Delicat ' as I asked a few questions on Delica's offered on this site. Everyone wants you to enjoy your Delica when you finally get yours.

Some of the good info included 'wet foot syndrome', block heaters, original and other parts, dealer credibility, crystal roof issues, FM station limitations and solutions, Pyro and Boost gauges, rust, winter package and I could go on and on (seems like I just did).

This new knowledge gave me the courage to look at a Delica @ Silk Road which I ended up buying last week. After trailering it home yesterday and inspecting it carefully I'm really happy with my choice. My first 100 km in the snow today were great. Hopefully I'll still say that in 6 months.

I've already bought the block heater and researched gauges. Has anyone used " Glow Shift " the price and led colors seem to good to be true.

Welcome to the club, Larry! DeliCat is a great guy. Sometimes it takes a while to get a response but generally people are great in this wonderful community. I cannot answer that particular question but there will be people who can.

Happy trails! Falco.

Are these informations all available on this forum? For the last four years, dealing with a mechanically inclined bus, I took the habit of traveling with a few spare parts of those "things that always tend to break" (my girlfriend thanked me more than once for that :-D )...
