Wet feet-need help

Hi all,
I'm in need of the info on how to repair the well know problem of WET FEET. My passenger floor is damp after it rains, I know someone has repaired this problem and I need the help. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

the common solution is to re-seal the quarter panels, I found my leak was at the top of the windshield instead.

When I bought my Deli in September from Mardy (MardyDelica) he re-sealed the quarter panels (which is step one), but the floors are still a little damp. He said the next step is to have the windshield re-sealed and that's what i'm going to do have done next week. Very reasonable price too.

As far as I know Mardy has CVI do his work, I prefer to take my deli to Butch (who has already done a fantastic job). I hope I'm right Mardy or I've told a fib. As to the required repair,I would rather try and use Golf Carts info to complete this(in my pre-opinion) fairly simple repair. Thanks for finding the link Golf Cart and also everyone who tried to help.

I resealed my windshield myself, got a tube of silicone sealant from canadian tire and pried the rubber windshield trim out at the top and ran a line of silicone all the way across the top edge of the windshield, feet have been dry ever since (never did get around to looking at the quarter panels, I'm starting to think that they're an over-hyped cause of this problem)

The thing is, when you do that, you have to make sure that the frame is dry as you'll seal the humidity as well. The best thing to do is to change the windshield seal. I changed mine on my bus with a couple of friends as it ran as much inside the bus as it did outside. The windshield seal had dried (but we were talking of a 30-year-old seal here) and the rust was destroying the frame underneath. Not very beautiful to see...

Putting the windshield back on with a new seal was one hell of a job, but never had Wet Foot Syndrome again.

I'm a sad to say I've had (have) all three.....sealed front quarter panel (fixed most of the wet feet syndrome), sealed rain cutter cracks etc (more improvement), but still have ever so slight inbound moisture from somewhere around the windshield - occasional drop coming down behind the brake / throttle pedals. Eventually - I got so tired of trying to sort this out - I cut out the carpet in the front footwells and put in a heavy duty rubber mat covering both footwells in one piece. What little moisture that comes in now just runs out under the mat, over to the door and exits through a hole that appears to be designed for such a situation. Not perfect, but got rid of the smell and works good enough for me at this point.

Clearly the moisture had been there a long time while in Japan - because the carpets underside was virtually rotten...fell apart in my hands.

This problem is also my nemesis. I have sealed EVERY possible thing I can think of and still get water on the driver's side ("occasional drop coming down behind the brake / throttle pedals"). I started with the quarter panel seam. Then did the gutter (after removing plastic chrome trim), then windshield, then antenna, then all windows on the roof including the sun roof !!! I am guessing there is a an opening in some other body panel; maybe in the ventilation area. I will be sure to post something if I ever figure it out.

Hi Guys,

My Buddy Edwin 'the dude' does the job for $75. To get it sealed properly, you have to take the panels off (left & right sides) with headlights removed and expose the seams which is the real problem (assuming there are no leaks from the windshield). It would take a couple of hours to do. If you have any questions, feel free to give 'the dude' a call and he'll be more than willing to guide you thru it.

Sure it's not brake fluid leaking back there ? I've seen two master cylinder's leaking so far.

You can buy a seal kit for it if it's leaking.

That would eat the carpet over a period of time.
