You'll find that Mitsubishi Canada won't acknowledge the possibility of existence of any of our vehicles. You generally have to be 'sneaky' when you want something from them, tell them the part you want is from a vehicle which was sold in this market. In your case, that's going to be even more difficult.rynow wrote:...can't find and english service manual

Cool ride though. We've thought of getting a Kei vehicle as a second vehicle, just for commuting or popping out to the store.

That is a nice little van. Mitsubishi Canada does not generally recognize the Delica Either. You should be able to find much more info about this van from:
http://www.minitrucktalk.com/
They are very easy to work on as they are small gas engines.
I have a similar unit just the truck and I bet you even if the Delica is heavy, highway millage would be similar as the Kei series was built for the city.
Have a nice day,
Daniel

Re: Delica's Mini Mits Cousin
I was driving by Mitsubishi Canada, on Marine Drive in North Vancouver and I saw that they had a sign out that stated that they would service any and all Japanese vehicles ~ so I stopped in. I went to the service counter and noted to the clerk that I had seen the sign outside and just wanted to clarify if they meant all Japanese vehicles?
He said "Yes"
I asked "Does that include.... ummm.... Mitsubishi's?"
He said "Well of course!.... ah.... except diesels ~ we are not geared up for diesels"
I asked "Why?"
"Well," he replied "Mitsubishi has never made diesels for the North American market"
I was puzzled as I had just driven past a LHD Fuso. I was pretty sure it was a diesel, although I must admit it was hard to hear the engine over the turbo
. I asked him a few more questions but by & large.... he was really uncertain about my Delica and I was really uncertain about him touching my Delica.
I smiled.
He smiled.
I walked out the door, aware of all the potentially hostile stares I was starting to get from the all the sales reps from behind the showroom glass. I call it Delicaism ~ but you know..... I was pretty cool with that

Re: Delica's Mini Mits Cousin
It is amazing the reaction you get from the mitsubishi dealers !! man do they ever not like us import driving people !! It is true what a few of you have said that you have to go in there and ask for montero parts and be sly about it !!
I went in and had quite the time just trying to order the mitsu key blank...... (before i discovered the cheaper alternative).. He told me they are under strict orders not to sell to us japanese market import people and they had no responsibilities to order us parts etc......etc....WOW what an eye opener !!
Sorry.......we seem to have gotten off topic !! I love that little van !! What real world gas km's do you get ??
cheers isaac

Have you seen their adds about "best backed cars in the world"? where they say that you can get your mitsubishi serviced by the dealers anywhere in the world...He told me they are under strict orders not to sell to us japanese market import people and they had no responsibilities to order us parts etc......etc....WOW what an eye opener !!
funny how "anywhere in the world" excludes Canada...

Re: Delica's Mini Mits Cousin
Im curious about what you did for the headlights to pass inspection, or did they not know what to look for?
I used some sheet aluminium on a few kei vehicles to make a standard headlight fit.
