L300 FRONT STEP PLASTIC REPLACEMENT

Post by chamonixstu »

Hi All,

Just spent an hour or so replacing the plastic treads in the front steps which were knocked out while off roading.

I managed to scrounge some mesh from work and cut it to size with a pair of tin snips, results quite good I thought for nothing!

Looks slick, wont it just get ripped off next time you go roading? it looks a bit light.

Hi Josh,

For what it is it is incredibly rigid.

The plastic steps just broke off the bolts and popped out and when they did they pushed the steps back a little. It now takes a lot to get them to touch unless you are a bit reckless :D

As replacement plastic was not an option I chose to stick some mesh in there. When I looked at the mesh on its own I questioned whether it would be strong enough but when its bolted in place it is very rigid.

I never used the steps as steps as I always caught my foot in them so I'm not intending on putting any weight on them and they are purely there for cosmetic reasons.

Hey, if they break I'll make some more as I still have a 2 Meters of the stuff left and it cost me nothing!
Cheers!

Looks good Stu although that step just gets in my way.
It's a clearance killer for me. Looks good though.
