Got my L400 on the way from Japan. Would I be better off getting the headlights changed in Japan or Canada?? What do I need to be compliant for Canada.
Can I do my own Brokering or am I better off paying someone to do the paperwork here??
I have paid up to the RO RO to Vancouver port.
I will post my complete purchase ( if I don't get robbed) after unit is in my hands
thanks
Clarence...

Thanks for the great offer for those who are Delicaless and having trouble with the L300 vs L400 choice. :-D
  • :M Engine access is it easier on the L300 or L400 or about the same?
:M Any issues with the first gen L400's
:M Any issues with the 2.8 over the 2.5. I've heard of the cracked head but is that common or only on vehicles that are over worked?
    :M Fuel mileage?
    :M Forgetting styling here what's better...'94 L300 or '94 L400?
I know some of these questions have been asked but I figured I'd ask again and see what we get from a weathered L400 owner.

Thanks again

as of now there is no L400 Headlight available for LHD. only emark code for RHD. this wont pass the inspection for Canada.
as this has reflection towards the left to coming car. so will do modification for now. i am also having problem to get the proper headlight for this L400 but no luck. call manufacturer but nothing for LHD.
its just take hard to modify.
hope this clarify for L400 headlight to pass proper inspection.

g'day todd
in answer to your question
1: engine access i believe to be better on the l400 than the l300
2:first gen l400 i believe that most of these have been rectified by series 2 fuel diesel pump seals (due to lack of sulpher in the diesel compared to japan and australia)they need a bash plate delicate area (oil filter) and i believe that the aircon can play up
3:styling not in mind the l300 can be more capable off road but lacks torque if you've done the (buick) 3.8lt v6 conversion well you'll leave the l400 behind on extreme stuff however the l400 will handle ALOT better on road and the series 2,3 get fuel delivery and gear box upgreades
so it really depends if you are a good or a great driver if ya gr8 you'll go anywhere you can go with al300 but if ya crap you can still go 98% of the places that the l300 gets to (in my opion get a l400 much more comfotable and a little more ecanomical
fuel milage about 600km to 65ltr of diesel on 90% highway 10% suburban driving
it depends on how hard you drive it some people get around 300km for there 65ltrs
i've found the delig8ter loves the magic 100km/h and gets best fuel econamy at that speed
i must add the above common problems /issues that have been mentioned have not happened to me touch wood nor to you but i believe that they are things to look out for
hope this answers you questions if not drop me a pm or post a reply

descions to be made good luck

fitting baby seats easy
in aus we put the restrant bolt behind the right hand front seat and then again directly behind 1 restraint bolt in roof and 1 in the floor
i believe the largest size wheel that comfortably fit is a 31" but you 'll need to a bit of quater panel remodelling on the fronts were the mud gaurd is there is a thread on how to do this in the l400 tech info section
hope this helps
