Hi everyone,
My first post...
I am looking at buying a (94?) Chamonix from Maximum Overdrive in Richmond BC and have a few questions.
Does anyone here have experience with Maximum Overdrive? If so what are your thoughts on them.
Second where is a good place to take the Delica for an independent inspection in Richmond (I was told i can't take it out of richmond)? They take all theirs to CVI, should i take it there too? I would prefer to take it somewhere they don't deal with but if CVI's rep is as good as it seems maybe i should just take it there? Or is it possible to just go there and ask to see the inspection report for Max OD?
Is there anything i should be aware of when purchasing a Delica? I have gone through the models and read a lot on some of the pro's and cons. I am looking for a raised roof without the crystal light windows as i hear the shades are prone to breaking down and one of the primary uses will be camping so I don't want the sun shining in at 6am. Otherwise it seems they are all pretty similar.
We have decided (at this point) on the Chamonix as it has the all weather interior, the bench seat (my GF wants) and the larger alternator and dual batteries. The one i am looking at also has the chrome package and we are told we can add a roof rack and ladder to it. It has 105k on it and appears in pretty good shape other than the floor mats which are not a major concern for me.
Anything else i should be looking at?
Thanks for your help and hope to see you out in the backcountry soon!

Re: Buying my first Delica
I'm also wondering if the owner of the delica in the pic could let me know where the roof rack and awning are from? Cost, supplier, brand etc.
If you see this could you let me know? I like your setup
Cheers

Welcome to the Delica world FlashJ!
You will find feedback about MO if you use the search. The best thread for that would be:
http://www.delica.ca/forum/delica-deale ... +Overdrive
Thumb up for CVI this are the best guys for your inspection. They are independent mechanics.
We personally prefer the crystal light for camping a lot. Modified the shadings and they work great.
The roof rack from Erebus (on your photo) is a custom rack. The awning is Shadyboy
Good luck with your purchase. Don't miss one of your next meets!

Have to through down my 2 cents worth on model choices for camping; we had several years owning both a high roof with crystal lite and a low roof with a moon roof (see my photo album). We greatly prefer the low roof with moon roof as the sleeper; the star gazing and fresh air being the biggest reasoning, ease to cover the opening with noseeum netting, easy inside access to roof top storage… and we had a ladder too, easier to close for shade, and with great air flow we happily slept three inside (one single and one double) for many nights in the summer.
Edit - http://www.delica.ca/forum/front-seat-b ... -3406.html - A roughly made bed that held up to two years of use.
