OOP OK Headlights
Just wondering if anyone has found suitable replacement headlights to meet OOP requirements for the L400 yet. Was the L400 sold in Germany like the L300?

Re: OOP OK Headlights
there are badge engineered ones if not the real thing in central america I think? that might be a good place to look, if there have the lights in Mexico it could make it cheaper with cheaper shipping and free trade and all :)

Yes, the L400 was sold in Germany and other LHD markets. I've seen a couple on Ebay.
Dunno if the lights from a Hyundai Starex (badge-engineered L400 made by Hyundai) would fit. I've seen lots of them in Costa Rica.

I'd like to see what mod would get by an inspection, they seem dead set on the e codes and so on.MardyDelica wrote:the L400 that was been sold in germany is different design same as the newer one but 1994 jap L400 is different.newer one is the same as starex korea, asian spec. europe spec different headlight.

Re: OOP OK Headlights
There are some lights on ebay UK that have LHD pattern and are legitimately marked with E coding.

Re: OOP OK Headlights
yes, they have some headlight in ebay uk, but they are 2 different design,
the uk headlight is for right hand drive. but the beam pattern is for right hand drive. It has E13 e-code but not for left hand drive car, they are design for RHD vehicle.there is no e-code headligth available on 1994 -1996 spacegear. so this E13 e-code headlight is no good for us here in canada as we are on LHD design. you can install it maybe pass if inspector dont know the beam pattern. but if you got an accident 100% your insurance will be void no matter if its your fault or there fault.
just a caution on this. i do have the sample of what you are talking but design is for RHd, even i call manufacturer they are made & design for RHD not LHD. just for clarrification on this headlight.
hope this help:

Re: OOP OK Headlights
Hi, did you actually see e-code for LHD or e code for RHD. This is totally different i hope you understand this. like i say before, there is e-code headlight for L400 i have now on hand but for RHD. hope you know this . its not because it has e-code & it will all pass for inspection.
its same as japan reflection.
some people dont understand this. but if you put that RHD with that RHD headlight it will blind spot the incoming car & create accident.
hope this help you;

the top left one, I know it says 95 but I think that is the model year, not the manufacture year, it looks the exact same shape and there are RD and LD sets. I'm taking a leap and guessing that LD is Left Drive and RD is Right Drive.

This isnt Accurate..
If you get into an Accident in car with NON dot headlights, ICBC wont repair it until all the DOT parts are installed.. at an added expence to you..
Saying your Insurnace is Void because, you dont have the correct Headlights is just scaring people..
Im not saying you should not make your Van DOT, however if its not.. you dont have to stop driving it.. You are still covered..
Just going to cost you a bit more if you do get into an accident,, as ICBC wont release the car till its all Up to spec..
A Close friend had this experience, just a month ago. NON DOT headlights, and tires, lost control in the Snow..
ICBC would not release the car until He brought Headlights, and Tires down..
I have yet to hear of ICBC voiding anyone's insurance.. and Im a very active member in the Skyline Community (90% of which are not DOT at all)
and they are young guys 17 - 25 and they have there share of accidents.. ICBC always pays out..
my point..
I dont like fear being thrown around..

Re: OOP OK Headlights
well, o.k. what you are saying its o.k. to pass vehicle even without proper headlight. i am talking about dot headlight or e-mark headlight that has the proper aiming direction for left hand drive country, we are talking about proper headlight for canadian standard compliance. yes maybe they just let you go. or even you got friend in skyline community by not changing proper headlight & its o.k. how did it pass the inspection. you even ask experience inspector about this they wont pass it. so if you think i am wrong & what your saying is right. just wait until somebody got hurt & know about your car that is non compliance.
they will call ICBC that you dont have proper compliance vehicle safety to the road. see who will supper. you as the owner will supper, & the other party involve in the ACCIDENT WILL SUE YOU, as your the one who cause accident if you blind the oncoming vehicle because you dont have proper headlight & a non complaince vehicle which you are not allowed to run & drive in the public road.
my main thing for this is safety. if you dont this is o.k. for you & o.k., its up to you.
dont wait until you have this problem come to you or to anybody for sure the outcome will not be good.
my point here is used a proper headlight for other safety & your safety.nothing we can do we just have to go by there rules not by you & me.
hope this help you to understand my point.

Re: OOP OK Headlights
Im not saying that its Ok to Drive cars with out Proper Lights.
I pioneered the proper Honda Light Conversion for Skylines, for the first Gen R32, and Second Gen R33.
Im just saying that ICBC will cover you.. that is all..
and I personally know people that have been in accidents, with Injury's, involved.. and the DOT of the headlights was never an issue for ICBC..
If you have any Examples of people's insurance void, please go ahead and tell the story.

There is LHD E marked lights for the L400 Available.. "Straight from Mitsubishi" i might add.
Hopefully that's helpful for people that need them.
Thanks for your time..

Re: OOP OK Headlights
For those wondering how to order the lights off Depo's website, go here http://www.depo.com.tw/asp/depo_show_qa1.asp?id=34 They do have E-Code RHT L400 lights, plus other lights for the L400, like clear or amber replacent corner lights and other lights. It's a great website, even for L300 owners as it sells after market parts like those clear tail lamps you see on some modified L300's in Japan, or the H4 dual hi/low headlamps you seen on the rebadged Delica's in some areas. http://www.depo.com.tw/depo_pro_qry_bra ... ake=Delica
