Hi everyone, I am new to the world of the right hand drive (two days) and as I was looking up all things Delica, I found this site. As I have a few questions I decided that this was the ideal group to ask. My first question is, can I change the Fm reception bandwidth on the on the Eclipse E3310CMT stereo in order to pick up local stations? (Kimberley) Secondly, The Delica Exceed that I just bought is at 100,000 km and I need to replace the timing belt (at least that is what I was led to believe), and my question is threefold. Where is the best place to get parts, where do I get an English manual and thirdly is there anything else I need to replace at this time?
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers, Tim

Hey Tim, welcome to the club! Post some pics of your new ride when you can.
Best thing to use on the site is the search function and the wiki pages under L300 technical.
In a nutshell though, I suggest replacing the following (and with 100k kms - SOONER than later :) )
Timing belt
Timing belt Tensioners
All fluids (transn oil,coolant)
Water pump
Fuel and air filter
Rear diff fluid
Pull your rad cap and try to see if your rad is all calcium'd up - if so consider replacing it)
I'm sure I'm forgetting something....
Buy/order your parts from mardy (Amazing Auto) on this site - great guy. Or from napa/lordco. You should be able to find all the part numbers you need from this site.
For the stereo, most folks just replace the stock one with a NA stereo.
There's a manual also floating around on this site too - you can find it with the search funtion.
Anyhow congrats on the new ride!!!!

Re: Delica basics
Firstly: Unless the station your are trying to get is very low on the FM dial then probably not. I replaced mine. I went to Performance Car Stereo and would recommend them at the drop of an hat ~ oh, there goes my toque, I recommend Performance Car Stereo on Pemberton Avenue in North Vancouver. Tell them Falco sent you, maybe they will give me a beer... smiles. I don't know Kimberly very well, I'm afraid ~ but I'm willing to bet that someone in this community can help you.
Secondly; If you don't know the history of your timing belt... replace it is my opinion. A new timing belt is far cheaper than a new engine. Here is a link to a "to do" list in "Delica Wiki": http://wikrad.com/delica/index.cgi?to_d ... red_delica
It doesn't necessarily mean that everything on the list must be done but it will give you an idea of what to look for.
By the way, when I first purchased my Starwagon, the timing belt had recently been replaced. Unfortunately, as the van had been sitting for a period of time in Yokohama, the oil seals had dried up and there was oil leaking all over my timing belt, which is not a good thing as it weakens the rubber.
Get to know this website. Look for "Delica Wiki" in the "Forum". It will help you a lot. Use the search engine but be sure that your spelling is correct, it doesn't correct you ~ i.e.; if you spell "diesel" you will find a lot of links, but if you spell "deisel", not a lot.
Ask a lot of questions (try to make them intelligent), we aim to please and show off our Delica prowess ~ but remember, we are only delioids, however, one or two of us are actual mechanics!
Welcome to Delica Canada

Re: Delica basics
I would also change your upper and lower rad hoses at the same time, since the coolant will be drained anyhow (and re-core the rad). But thats just my opinion.snelson wrote: I'm sure I'm forgetting something....
I cant wait to see pics of your ride. Have fun with it.

Re: Delica basics
I think I drove past you this weekend and honked! Anyways, I passed a Delica parked on the side of the road near Kimberly.
My suggestion is to find someone who can read Japanese and read all the little stickers near or around the engine. When I bought mine the seller told me I need to replace the timing belt soon but there was a sticker on the engine that said it had been replaced at 100,000 km, nice!

Ignore the sticker and listen to the seller's advice...Penner wrote: When I bought mine the seller told me I need to replace the timing belt soon but there was a sticker on the engine that said it had been replaced at 100,000 km, nice!
