actual measurments
I need some actual L400 measurements, so if someone has a tape measure handy I'd greatly appreciate it.
I would like to know the distance from the back of the driver's seat to the tailgate in both a LWB and SWB L400 (actual measurements please!), I'd also appreciate the interior width and height (though these are less critical)

SWB L4interior height 3'10" I have the interior mood lighting therefore less room on the height. You could get 4' without the lights. Width 4'10", and the length from behind the drivers seat is 7'10". Again this is for the SWB.

I measured in the cabin space. I'll measure at the drivers side and get back to you. being 6'2" you'll fit quite well as the driver. Getting around in the back could be a little squishy.

I'm not worried about height of the driver, more about when moving around in the back... I measured the L300 directly under the fluorescent light pod to get 4'1"... I'm surprised the L400 is so much shorter inside.

I have 3'8" - 4'1" in the LWB for height depending on where you are standing.
I find the LWB is roomier in the rear than the L300 because of the configuration of the seats and the missing engine/mid-section.
I'll measure the lengths tomorrow but I recall doing it before and the LWB is longer than the L300 from mid-driver's seat to the rear (because of the engine hump on the 300).
The rails on the L400 captain's chairs in the middle are so long than you can turn the seats sideways and prop them up against the wall behind the driver's and passenger's chairs. The whole middle section of the van in the rear opens up like a mini dance floor.
I'll snap some pictures of different configs on the LWB L400 tomorrow.
All I can say is that I've had the same people in and out of the van and they all said it's more comfy (the seats themselves) and a lot easier to get in and out and move around inside (4 adults + baby) than the L300's I had (both bench and captain configs).
A side note, I hit some snow/ice this weekend off the beaten path near whistler.
The LWB handled the descents on ice/snow very well due to the longer wheelbase. I also left it in AWD mode (dry/wet/ice/snow) and it just felt like my old subaru except of course it's a Delica.

Please do let me know the interior length of that LWB, I'm quite curious. I'd also be interested to know if all of the length difference between SWB and LWB is behind the rear seat, or if there's also some extra length further forward.
I'm still a little surprised by the reduced headroom of the L400, but it just might be a trade-off I'm willing to take... I really am torn between the two... I love the L300, but the L400 is growing on me and does have some advantages...

After crawling around in the (soon to be mine) LWB L400, it appears that the extra length is about equally divided in front and behind the wheel. There is definitely more space behind the rear seats, but there is also about 8" extra length in front of the rear seats.

Anyone have the height measurements for a non-lift LWB high roof L400? More specially, is it under height for the BC Ferries (7' or less)?

Thanks Loki, I guess 6'9" is as high as a stock L400 goes. So I guess my 4" lift plus 31" tires translated into and extra 1'3".

that math doesn't seem right though. 15" - 4" from lift = 11". 31" tires don't give you 11" more inches of height unless the stock tires are 9"

Yeah, it doesn't seem right to me either, but these are the numbers Brave Auto gave me for the lift and the total height. I guess I could measure my total height, but it is raining pretty hard outside.....and it is dark.

I would bet it is just a little over 7', 7'1" or so. I have seen it in person and 8 feet seems a bit much.
