L400 Trailer Wiring Kit?

Post by Adam »

Does anyone know what type of wiring kit one needs for 4-pin trailer? I seem to recall the kit for the L300s was a 5 to 4 wiring kit so that the trailer tail lights would also act as turn signals as well as brake lights. Do the L400s have seperate turn signal and brake lights or are they the combined?

I would check the Australian site. I think there is answer there. That site is a great resource for L400 owners.

Same as the L300

Combined signal and brake lights are illegal in most of the world, only north america would allow something as stupid as red turn signals, or turn signals that over-ride your brake lights.

I can confirm that it is the same as the l300 because I just wired mine up on Friday. The kit that I used was basic and its sole purpose was to convert the combined signal.

You should be able to get an inverter module from princess Auto for about $20 which include the 4 wire flat plug for your trailer hook up. Lordco sell them too but more money in the $30 range.

BTW, where did you get your hitch for your L400 from? Good luck.

I got it from E&H, but I'm having trouble installing it right now. It was built for a LWB L400, but not mine. Right now I'm researching picture of it installed to see what I'm doing wrong :-)

EDIT:Got it figured out, never mind. Fits nice, very solid. It does seem to require you to drill two holes underneath, which I haven't done yet, but I will before I actually use it. I'd post pictures, but I can't find my camera.
