I bought the grote from lordco, although I paid $29 for mine, I put that on both delicas and my surf, so simple, one wire to the battery and the fuse is included, actually built right in, then one to the low beam line, I tied that right into behind the headlight and the third goes to switched power, couldent be easier . oh and for the guy who just publicly admited his mechanic pushed his deli through with no mods at all, david, if you still need that place to get the vehicle passed let me know as my friend here on the island just did it in nanaimo, no running lights or modifications what so ever. the mechanic just checked the brakes, muffler, etc. like with both of mine and passed them.

Im sure you will be getting a re-inspection notice soon, as there is a big push to re-inspect or SEIZE illegal imports, yes cry all you want, if your delica did not get passed legally it can be seized, Ive bought one so far from the feds auction. Do you honestly think that only delica owners are the only people checking out these sites? woods and kanga both check on this site and IVOAC
for those of you that have not heard , one of the BIG reasons the min 2meg jpegs are being taken of your/our rides at the inspection is to be able to look back at them if your vehicles gets an inspection notice or if your in an accident after the inspection, if you dont have the same equipment as when you are inspected IE...ecoded lights, reflectors.... you CAN have your vehicle seized &or your insurance voided. or both.
dont believe me? I know of and inspectors also know of one delica owner here in vic that bougt his headlights, got inspected and then sold his headlights , reverting back to stock , Presumably to get another delcia passed inspection or just to recover the money from them.
yup that van is being tracked down. and hopefully if new owners have it then they will look at their van and get it proper befor they loose it.
but this is all turning in to a tangent, sorry... but cover your ass or someone will poke you in it and it will hurt

Compliance
Unfortunately there are a number of vans out there that do not comply to current regulations and the owners are not really sure what is required . If anyone needs their van checking for DOT compliance we can look it over and make sure it complies . (no charge for this) It might save a few vans being issued re-inspection notices if it is checked sooner rather than later . It will also save owners the re-inspection fee and hassle of re-inspecting .

IMHO as a share of the overall cost of the vehicle, the expense of compliancing to Transport Canada standards is negligable.
I see most of the compliancing requirements as reasonable and safety-oriented.
You're nickle and diming yourself if you side-step this process AND you open the door to even tighter standards and possibly other sanctions.
Many owners are fighting hard to keep the long arm of the law from getting longer; not to mention the hassle you cause yourself when you get a re-inspection notice, discover your insurer won't cover you, pay traffic fines, or perhaps put yourself and others at risk.
I don't like rules (it's some childhood thing I've never gotten over) but for me, compliancing is a no-brainer and I hope it's the exception and not a growing trend.
