Odometer problem...

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Odometer problem...

Post by piyeguyo »

Hi all

I finally got the van out for a little trip and a couple of things happened, the first one has to do with the odometer: When I bought the Deli 3 weeks or so ago the odometer had a reading of 108,5XX kms and it worked fine until yesterday when it was supposed to go to 109,000 kms. Now it's stuck on 108,999 and the numbers don't move, except for the one counting the units. This last one goes from 0... to 9 and when the rest of the numbers are supposed to change to the next 10-100-1000, they just stay there without any change, after a little "click" noise.

Have any of you guys had a problem like this before? How can it be fixed? I guess this is not a do-it-yourself kind of thing otherwise all the odometers would be in 0 or something like that...

The "trip odometer" or whatever is called (the counter below the big odometer) is working fine and it counts the 500+ kms that I've put on the Deli since I bought it in early May

Thx...
Fabio

sounds like the little tab on the number wheel that grabs the next one over has broken... to "fix" it you may need a new odometer... (and at this point, no matter what you do, there will be "evidence of odometer tampering" which will make some future purchasers leery... about all I can suggest is keep detailed records of any repair work you do...)

I did discover on the highway the other day that my odometer isn't accurate either... I drove through one of those odometer test sections... in 5km my odometer read about 0.3 - 0.4 high... guess my van is even lower mileage than it claims! ;)

personally I would just replace the guage cluster entirely, very easy to get in japan right now, and with a very similar milage to what you have now, im sure you can get one with around 110k on it, and the color will match also, then you wouldent be lieing to people down the road about milage. I bet you can get the guage cluster , the whole pod with the speedo and everything in it for about $50 plus shipping to Canuckistan
Hey japanoide and coombs have parts delicas in right now, phone them and ask about the guage pod , if they want a foot and part of a arm for it, let me know I can get anything from japan and I dont sell them, i just like to help out

Cluster

Post by ccautos »

I have a cluster here from a parts van with 144856km on it . I would be looking for two legs for mine preferably with a cute girl attached to them !!!!! Or if cute girl not available would be willing to exchange 75 beer vouchers . (thats $75 CAD )

where do you buy $1 beers?

oh, and is there any sort of speedo healer (i guess thats bike talk) so I can make it accurate after throwing my new tires on?

Beer vouchers

Post by ccautos »

Unfortunately beer vouchers can be used in exchange for beers but you have to part with at least 3 vouchers per beer . I`m more interested in the cute girls arms and legs than beer . Although the wife would be happier if I got beer !!!

if you do get the girl i will trade you 75 beer vouchers.

wait... is that against the law?

its too bad about the odo. If you replace the cluster will it still ahve evidence of tampering? Best bet is to just keep photographic evidence of anything you do so a buyer doesn't think you're trying to screw him.

So are you talking about photographing the girl and then trading beer vouchers ?? If I get copies of the photos I`ll reduce the amount of beer vouchers !!! I don`t think you should take photos of screwing though thats to be posted on different forums .

The same thing has happened to my Odometer @ 85 000 kms. Don't know what to do, but I guess will have to run with it.

Maybe you should also ask if the girls odometer is broken first.... you wouldn't want to trade all those beer vouchers if she's high millage.
