Need to know for a veg conversion.
Also, still have no idea re ohms resistance for the sending unit of an L400??? So let me know where i can find this out PLEASE!!

Thanks a ton for any help

IIRC, it was a 90a for the full series 1 L400 run but the series 2 (97 onwards) stepped up to a 110amp.
Depending on how the alternator is bolted into/onto the engine, you could theoretically bolt in a 165 A alternator! The underlying issue with the L300s was the fact the oil pump for the turbo (I think?) is connected to the back of the alternator - not sure if this is the same concern with the L400s. As long as you have room for tension adjustment and the correct bolt pattern, you could bolt in what fits (and meets your power requirements).Mr. Flibble wrote:Bullwinkle wrote:I can confirm that the alt in my 94 L400 is indeed a 90amp unit.

That raises an interesting question, is it possible to bump the alternator in a series 1 L400 up to 110 Amps or more?
