Tail Gate Lock Problem

Mitsubishi Delica L400 production commenced in 1994 -- After much anticipation, the L400 arrived on Canadian Soil in 2009!

Tail Gate Lock Problem

Post by aclarker »

Can anybody help?

I have a problem with my tail gate lock. See picture.
The lock will not catch on the ring on the floor of the van. Therefore it will not lock. The tail gate bounces off the catch ring. I have lubricated the lock and the internal springs and all hinges. Still nothing...

Any suggestions? I have looked on the forum and it seems nobody else has had this problem.

Thanks,
aclarker

looks like it is already closed, put a wire hanger, or screwdriver in there and pull while someone is pulling the release handle.

Catch ring is in the closed position.

Pull it out to open position.

Next time, could you provide an even larger image? Just so we can get a sense of what's going on.

I'm being sarcastic. But seriously, if you could crop the image next time, it would be easier to view it. I re-sized it for you.

Actually... that's "uploading" don't you know... snicker . Hey, don't mind me, I am not much better at this. Did you get it fixed? Also, there is a question I have for you that's a bit off topic: When you named your Delica "Betty", is that by chance in reference to the Mitsubishi Betty?

I didn't catch on right away, as a matter of fact when seeing your wagon was black (or very dark) I thought of the song "Black Betty". Then I thought about the Brown Betty tea pot (L400s, you know ~ they even have a spout on the front). It wasn't until I was discussing with someone how the Miss Lil' Bitchi is layed out like an aeroplane with all the coolers, radiators and intakes ~ and how the A6 Zero was made by Mitsubishi ~ when it dawned on me. Great name, AClarker.
