Super Select lever stuck? Don't despair.

Post by chris »

After shifting into 4H for some logging road action, the Super Select lever would not return to 2H. Pushing thoughts of expensive repairs out of my head I searched and found that Pajeroists have had this problem before. Some of them have got stuck in 4HLc. Isn't it great to own a 15 year old vehicle? Everyone has already had your problem!

So, unscrew the shifter knob. Peel back the carpet under the rubber boot on the shifter and remove the six 12 mm bolts. Pull the boot and the metal plate up and then yank out the rubber seal. This exposes the base plate of the shifter. Remove the four outer 14 mm bolts. Pull the shifter out, flip it over and poke it with your finger and it will spring back into the proper position. Beware of hot transmission fluid. Flip it back over, put it back in and test it before reassembly. It's tricky lining up the rubber seal with the plate and the shifter boot but it can be done.

Apparently this just happens sometimes. Thank you pocuk.com! Apparently this job is extra hard for Pajeros because of the tricky centre console that has to be removed first.
