Quick question, going to add cold air intake and aluminum or stainless pipes for intercooler; unsure of sizes.
(I know, seems silly(go measure), but time is precious with kids)
If someone could help....... AWESOME! then I will post some pretty pics for others interested.
Turbo inlet (fresh air) - size?
Turbo to intercooler(same size both ends?) - size(s)?
Intercooler to intake (same size both ends?) - size(s)?
Basically want to buy all my rubber couplings and pipes ahead of time, head out and get'er done!
Thanks thanks thanks!
Cheers

the size of inlet and outlet are roughly 1.5 inch diameter..... Since i'm a plumber by trade I made a set out of copper piping.... I made the longer one out of 2 inch copper and finished the top one today out of 1.5 inch copper..... all I must say is be really careful of the top one as when the wipers are on the mechanism for the wipers comes really close to the top pipe and will clunk badly if its a solid pipe. I had to come up with some creative wiggling to get everything lined up but it went in with no troubles. I dry fit everything the soldered it up then installed and seems to have a bit more snap under acceleration as these pipes don't flex like mad like the old ones did....

A really inexpensive (read ghetto) way to get the same effect, is to wrap zap straps side to side along all the hoses. It prevents it from expanding nearly as much, and there is an instant decrease in turbo lag. It sounds ghetto, and well.. it is! But it works, and it costs 4.50 on sale at princess auto.

Call them "Cross-mounting, Synthetic-Polymer, Counter-expansion Re-inforcement Devices" and I'll sell you a pack of 15 for $89.95 plus shipping and handling (*STRICT* limit of 10 packs per household. Operators are standing by, this is a limited time offer....)pajerry wrote:A really inexpensive (read ghetto) way to get the same effect, is to wrap zap straps side to side along all the hoses. I'd like to see a picture of your handy work. Did you just solder 90s onto straight pipe or did you bend the pipe?

I'd like to see those pics too!
I'll get one of my zapstrap handy work :)
Apparently there is a stainless steel pipe wrap, simliar to a chinese finger trap, that you fit around it and tighten it, and does the same thing. The Cross-mounting, Synthetic-Polymer, Counter-expansion Re-inforcement Devices need replacing after about 25000 kms, as some start getting brittle and are snapping off.

I used some 45's mostly soldered them up as since I do that sort of thing for a living it was super easy.... I'm trying to post pics but they are too large.....
