Turbo goo

I had to take the air box out to gain access to my alternator. When I took the hose off of the mouth of the turbo, there was a little 'puddle' of dark liquid. I didn't touch it but over the few days since I took the hose off and taking this picture (the van has not moved), the liquid has mostly disappeared leaving only a minor residue.

Is this dark liquid worthy of my concern?

no mate not really '
what it is , is oil form your cylinder head being sucked in be the breather hose from your head to the airbox
in australia some of the members have fitted an oil catch can
however this is not necessary as the reason for the hose is for emission control so over here they are acctually illegal
but the extra oil being sucked in is not a real concern nor should it create any issues
however this does sound like alot of oil you have down there
do you have a turbo timer fitted as this will help you decrease the amount of oil left in the lines because the only real time it might get sucked in is when it's under extreme load but once left to idle it should either dissapate or be burnt off quite quickly
also if you are using an oil type air filter you should replace with a standard type as the excess oil can also be dragged in to the line aswell
and this oil does create a goo like substance slowing down the air flow to the turbo so change it if you have one !!!

hope this helps good luck
but i believe nothing really sounds a miss mate so no stress

So, as long as I don't accelerate really hard into my driveway and immediately turn off the ignition, I should be good.

I don't have a turbo timer (boost gauge?) but plan on installing one someday.

Thanks for the info.
