Alignment

Hi,

I asked a local shop about doing alignment on my van, they weren't sure if they could. I don't know much about it myself. Is it a relatively simple thing that they should be able to do easily enough-ie. just like most other vehicles?

Or even better, does anyone know a good place in Prince George that can do it?

I remembered seeing this http://www.delica.ca/forum/alignment-sp ... =alignment post. It gives the specs of the alignment adjustments. It doesn't mean much to me but I would think if you gave it to a shop that does alignements it would.

make sure its actualy ur alignment before u go in.i was on my way to van from princeton to get my alignment done and my front right tires blew out.when i put the spare on the deli ran straight again,the whell just had some defects.

Thanks, new tires made a big difference. Now I want to do the torsion bar adjustment, so I'll need to get the alignment done after that.

this may sound crude but on heavy equipment we have a sliding tube setup with tabs on the end for meauring toe in or out but i can do it just as well with a tape measure to within 1/16 of an inch - 0. hold end of tape at middle of the sidewall at rearmost part of tire across to exactly same spot on opposite tire then the middle of forewardmost part of tire to the other side again + compare the 2. keep tape straight + level across + pull tight. do 3x to confirm measurement. works fine if ya just did some steering work temporarily until accurate alignment in automotive.

how much does alignment cost at a shop?cause doesnt it only take liek 15 min?

A proper alignment ie setting camber, caster, toe in ect, takes about a hour. Also in my experience Delicas always pull to one side, the right. And i was told the reason for this is that they are set up to drive on the "other side" and the roads in Japan as do many of ours, are higher in the center than they are at the curb so they compensate for this with alignment. So when you get em here thay pull to the right. Makes sense, anybody else had the same experience?

Yes... A slight pull to the right has been my experience, as well.

It sounds like, as most Deli's need the torsion bars cranked a bit for stability, a good time to do the alignment would be along with the t.bars.

I wanted to get some sort of lift on my back tires (havent decided on what yet) and then i would crank the front tortion bar,i figure i will do it all at the same time and get the alignment done thne as well.

That is for sure Patty, if you touch the torsion bars, you need to do an alignment.
