Waiting for the light on the dash is a way to vastly improve your fuel consumption -- since there isn't one, you'll never run the engine and burn fuel! (sorry, couldn't resist)knight wrote:so thats why I cant find a glow plug light on the dash. I have to wait to hear the clicks. LOL
Don't know about your specific remote starter, but the one installed on mine (an "arctic start" unit) doesn't wait for a light, instead it's a simple timer, it turns to glow, waits a set time, and then starts. no light required, generally works quite well, though at some point I think I need to shorten the timer. The lack of that dash light could cause a problem for the installation of the remote start systems, as the install manual says it waits for the glow plug light to go out before it starts in Diesel mode. Guess I'll know soon.
don't crank multiple times, your best bet is to run the glow plugs a few times (3-4) and then just go for it, hold the starter until it's either running, or the battery won't turn it any more. every time you stop and re-start you're loosing most of the "progress" you've made. The batteries sure come in handy with repeated crankings.
almost impossible to say... the spiral cell batteries are better in almost every way, but they are also more expensive... having had no issues with my current batteries, even when leaving all sorts of power hungry accessories on for long times without the engine running... it's hard to justify "better", but at the same time, I think that when my current ones wear out, I might consider it... really hard to say (btw, the batteries I have in there right now are the ones that came with it from Japan, and they've been nothing short of amazing so far)On the topic of batteries, anyone have an opinion on whether the spiral cell batteries are worth the extra money?
