Emergency!!!

Post by archibald »

OK I am freaking out, I changed my oil today and when I turned over the engine and started to drive away there was oil everywhere!!! I turned it off and tightened the filter, seemed like that was it then I turned it over again and it seemed to still be spilling oil. Now it won't start, it needs a bunch more oil so that might be why it's not starting, How do I know if I have the filter on right, or if it's the right one. I have super exceed, and I used a Fram PH6355 It seemed to be the right one. I don't know what to do now without ruining my delica. should I get it towed somewehere, who services them? I just don't want to do anything more for fear of screwing up further. What can you use to clean up an oil spill? Please help.

Look at your old oil filter. If I was a betting man I would say it is missing the gasket and the gasket is still stuck to your block. If not, pull the filter and make sure the gasket is for the oilfilter is in place and not popped out (you did oil the gasket before you put it on right).
As for not starting now, not sure, fix the problem and try it then, if it still doesnt start,
that sucks.
p.s. This is assuming the oil filter is correct, compare it to the old one to make sure the seal diameter is the same.

well thats the correct filter,I've used it many times, did you put the cap back on the oil filler? is the drain plug in properly?
Did you tighten up the oil filter enough, you should be able to put around 6 1/4-6.5liters of oil
I had an westfailia that the oil filter backed off and was spewing out oil everwhere. cant tell you who works on Delicas if you dont say where you are....

I import vehicles and supply about 90% of parts for delicas and other imports. I do very light servicing, for now i refer all my service work to Marigold service, I am currently negotiating for a warehouse/shop to lease , Go talk to ray at marigold service, they do alot of delica work.

Noel are you selling WVO kits yet? I am interested in one but am moving back to Alberta soon. Would like to pick one up or talk about the system if possible.

Hi, Ive sold two wvo kits so far and they are working great, one on a delica, and one on a landcruiser, right now my bigest wall in front of me is a workshop, once I have that settled we will be back to fabing up tanks. I know its overkill, but i tell you , a checkerplate aluminium fuel tank looks AWSOME!!!!

Feel free to call any time to talk about what your looking for and I could even meet you to go over your van and see what size tank you want . The tank goes in the area that the spare tire now sits in, Please dont ask about putting a fuel tank into the passenger compartment, I wont do it. and would rather not sell a system than put a tank of 290* oil in behind your kids or anywhere bad things could happen. As it sits now, if you get rearended or punch a rock into the tank, worst case, you spill some vegitable oil on the ground. If bad things Happen inside the cabbin of the vehicle, its raining hot oil from the roof . Im sure you get the picture.

Possibly not overkill.. I have one dent in my delica from the previous owner, and it is on the fuel tank. It is a HUGE dent actually, when I first looked at it I thought 25% of the tank was crumpled in.. it's not actually that bad as I realized the tank is pretty big and has a junky plate in front of it, but it is still in a vulnerable area so any armor helps.
